Frederick Elmer Larkham was born December 16, 1862 in Griswold, Connecticut.  He was the ninth of eleven children born to William and Hannah (Palmer) Larkham.

Fred was nearly twenty-two years old when his father died.  At some point after this date, Fred headed west, where he settled in Wapanucka, Oklahoma.  The photo, above right, taken of Fred in the cowboy outfit, was taken in Wapanucka.  A newspaper article bearing the announcement of his wife's death (year and her name, unknown) reads:

MRS. F. E. LARKHAM'S RITES ARE PLANNED
Wapanucka, June 25- (Special)

Services will be Monday in Richmond, Calif., for Mrs. F. E. Larkham, 77, former Wapanucka resident who died Thursday in Richmond. Mrs. Larkham and her husband were Wapanucka pioneers. He Had been engaged in the restaurant business there. They moved to Tulsa three years ago and after he died one year ago Mrs. Larkham moved to California. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. S. J. Bass, with whom she was living in Richmond; Lois, Tucson, Ariz; a sister, Mrs. W. G. Draper, Tishomingo, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.             Fred Larkham was one of the links that led me to the discovery of a branch of the Larkham clan that had migrated to upstate New York in the late 1700s/early 1800s.  Descendants of the upstate New York Larkhams moved to Oklahoma, and these relatives may, in part, have been Fred's incentive for moving there.  It's clear from information gleaned from other Larkham descendants, that the Larkhams of Rhode Island and Connecticut kept in touch with their cousins in New York and Oklahoma, and that there were Larkham family reunions during the 1800s and early 1900s.

I have not learned any more information about Fred Larkham's wife or daughters, other than the names and places given in the obituary, above.
