| We are not sure what name was placed on the birth certificate. Joan did not want to give her baby up for adoption so she refused to fill out the papers thinking that they could not take him away if she did. Her parents filled out the forms and never would speak of her son to her since. Joan was allowed by luck to see her son for a few seconds and does remeber that he had black hair and tan skin like his Itialan father. | I took my daughter home from the hospital with me. Then came to realize that everyone who said they would be there to help me with her(since I was too young and destitute to take care of her alone) had suddenly disappeared from my life. Though it broke my heart into shattered pieces I knew I couldn't offer her anything. I had no job, no education to speak of, no home, no money, a mate who had abandoned me the moment he found out I was pregnant and no courage! I knew in my heart that an adoptive family was her best shot at having a future and a wholesome life. I held her and hugged her and loved her, I loved her enough to let her go. And though my heart has been broken everyday since then. I am still VERY frightened by the possibility that she won'tunderstand my reasons for doing what I did and will break my heart again. But I feel she has the right to know her history and I am willing to open myself up to her so she has the chance to be a whole person if that is what she is seeking at this point in her life. | ||||||
