Spaulding's Cavern

When Spaulding’s Cavern was re-discovered in 1935, a reporter for the Colorado Springs Gazette and Telegraph entered the cavern and made a list of some of the names he found carved on the cavern walls. Among those listed were C.C. Graf, Mrs. Lou Frost, W. Lierd, D. Mills, W. Nelson, B.R., A. Dunlop, A.S. Voorhees, D.P. Drake, C.L. Moss, Haswell, M.A.V., G.A. Copley, B.F. Wadsworth, R.O.I.,Liselle, and E.A.J. The only easily identifiable name in 1935 was that of Mrs. Lou Frost, who turned out to be Mrs. Louise I. Frost of 214 North Chestnut Street, at that time the oldest living member of the El Paso County Pioneer Society. In recent years, six more of the names have been identified and researched. .
