"Montana", by Carol Antrim

Carol Antrim, Montana "Montana" is an "Antler as feet" style basket.

The cane outer wall is the color of ripe wheat fields on the east side of the mountains and there are several coils of pine needles for the pine forests of the west side...

The inner wall is the space dyed blue/pink of lakes and skies at sunset with shades of the purple mountains, overdyed with tea that brought out the bluegreen of the streams and the corals of sunrise.

Mountain breezes/winds can be seen in some of the surface design.

The smoked reed bottom is the color of the earth in the valley's floor.

The rim is copper. Copper is a signature element in many of my woven art baskets and is mined in Montana. Beads skim down the wings of the copper rim like kids on sleds or skiers on Big Mountain. The antler, itself, is originally from Montana.
