One of the nicest pages I ever saw used a "rainbow" of pastel shades to delineate the pages of the site..all of the buttons/bars were the exact same style but soft colors like mint green, rose pink, baby blue
It seemed to be an odd arrangement at first
and to break the "mold"
Every color is so bright, in psp, I need to learn how to soften them, that is what I am looking for to, pastels
(especially since the site owner was a young man!)

I would suggest that you either look in the literature that came with the sytem or call Packard Bell or the store where you bought it. I know that there were Eprom problems with USR modems. That sometimes can be fixed by downloading something from the Internet

If a border background is less than 1024 wide -- it will repeat the border at different resolutions
I know that I usually see the recommendation to set border-background images to 1200 width so that they do not "repeat" the border on larger monitors

to draw the edges on the buttons, is it possible in PSP? I tried using the sizes you had listed, and the thin lines were jagged
I use the second method for PSP buttons ..where you add borders...
drawing lines is sometimes challenging for me too...lots of undoing!
use the line tk, there is a diagonal line button on the bar it makes straight lines!!

Correct, that's what i tried, I increased the Size to 16:1, and one pixel for the lines, but on a 54 pixel wide image was still jagged

use the add border--add non-symetric so that you can do two sides at time in the color you chose
and if the button is about the size of the ones in the lesson--try about 3-4 pixels for the edges

it more definate, start out small one square and then inside may be three of them
for the fine lines? I was able to do them in a Vector drawing program ( Serif Draw Plus) but not in PSP or Abode Photo Deluxe...which are both Raster Image programs

then reverse
set the other two to 4 and the ones that were 4 to 0
then use the line to draw in the corners

and yes it will look like a jaggedy diagonal line on the edges when you draw up since that line is only 1 pixel wide

I think I understand....I've been using + Marker to draw the borders , which works fine, just having difficulty with the fine lines

Don't try to increase/decrease size of images with HTML if at all possible
It might distort the image--almost certainly distort the text on a button
