The name of Jeffers had its origin in England, and the family was founded in America in the latter half of the eighteenth century by two brothers, Robert and William, who at an early age were left orphans and placed on board a vessel bound for the new world....Upon reaching New York the two brothers were separated and nothing further was ever known of Robert...William Jeffers, Sr., was reared in this country, and was married to Miss Sarah Rollins, a native of Ireland. He finally settled in Clermont, Co. OH, where he followed the occupation of farming, there reared his family and spent his remaining days, and both he and his wife died in that state.
