LIONBERGER WILLS AND WILL ABSTRACTS
John Lionberger Jr. Dated Jan 16, 1813.
In the name of God Amen.
I, John Lionberger Sr. of the County of Shenandoah and State of Virginia do make, ordain, publish and declare this as and for my last will and Testament: (revoking all others) in manner and form following viz:
FIRST: To my four sons, Samuel, Abraham, Joseph and Jacob and my beloved wife Barbara, I give and bequeth the plantation where on I now live, to remain whole and undivided until my son Jacob becomes or arrives to lawful age; and in the meantime the profits thereof to be divided equally amonst the said Samuel, Abraham, Joseph and Jacob and Barbara my wife.
SECOND: My sons Samuel, Abraham, Joseph and Jacob shall pay unto my daughters Mary, Leah and Magdaline the sum of $1200.00 to be equally divided among my said daughters, to be paid in the following manner, viz: One hundred Dollers in twelve months after my decease, and annually $100. therefore until the whole is paid.
THIRD: To my son David, Peter and the heirs of my son John I give and bequeath the sum of one shilling each, which shall (in addition to what I have given them heretofore) be in full of their share of my estate.
FOURTH: After my decease I desire that all of my personal estate shall be sold by my executors herein after mentioned, on a credit of twelve months, and the proceeds thereof equally divided among my children viz: Barbara, Suzannah, Rebecca, Mary, Samuel, Abraham, Joseph, Leah, Magdalene, Jacob, and also my beloved wife Barbara.
FIFTH: I give and bequeath my blacksmith tools to my sons, Samuel, Abraham, Joseph, and Jacob.
SIXTH: To my wife Barbara, I give during her natural life one bed, and furniture, my clock, my corner cupboard, stove and pipe, large table, two milk cows, such as she may choose amongst all I have at my death, also possession of her choice of rooms in my house and privilege of my kitchen, all which she shall enjoy during her natural life, provided she remains my widow: but if she marries again, then at her marriage, the whole of the property herein given and bequeathed to her shall revert to my-children viz: her part of the land shall revert to my sons Samuel, Abraham, Joseph and Jacob and her part of the personal property (one bed and furniture except which I give her and her heirs forever), shall revert to my children Barbara, Suzannah, Rebecca, Mary, Samuel, Abraham, Joseph, Leah, Magdalene, Jacob.
SEVENTH: I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my friends William S. Marye and William R. Almond sole executors of this my last will and Testament, as witness my hand and seal this 16th day of January 1813.

The executors in the will appointed refusing in court to undertake the execution of the duties of executors on motion of David Hay, he was appointed Administrator with: the will annexed of the estate of the testation, and as such entered into bond in the penalty of $5000.00

Also the rents & profits of the 1/5 part of land up to this date & all the money I may have & that also which may be owing to me by bond, note or account at my decease. All the remainder of my property I give to my daughters, Mary, Leah & Magdalene & to the heirs of their bodies. Daughters to divide my wearing apparel among them equally for I do not
wish them sold or given to any other person or persons.

Lionberger, Samuel Payment of just debts. Son, Samuel J. Lionberger - all my lands consisting of my home farm - 177 acres including a small lot about 7 acres joining John Huffman, Joseph Huffman & Peter Long, Also my black woman, Harriet & her increase from this time at the sum of $5700.00 which my son, Samuel J.Lionberger to pay out among my eight children - John H. Lionberger, Nancy A. M. Huffman wife of John Huffman, David G. W. Lionberger's children, Jacob S. Lionberger, William R. Lionberger, The Trustees of Susan F. Yates wife of William S. Yates & Sarah J. Kite wife of Jacob R. Kite & Samuel J. Lionberger retaining for himself.
