OBITUARY OF GEORGE C. WOOD
PIONEER OF ARIZONA IS CALLED BY DEATH

WOODS CROSS, 1 April 1923 - George C. Wood, prominent local citizen, died at his home here on Sunday night of carcinoma, following a long illness.

Mr. Wood was born here 5 July 1854, and was in the "move south" with his parents at the time of the Johnson Army--The Utah War.

He went to Arizona in 1876 with Lot Smith in the Church colonizing of that State remaining there three years and a half. He filled a mission to Europe from 1898 to 1900. Mr. Wood was an able musician, playing the violin, which he mastered without the air of a teacher, and played in most of the dances here in his younger day.

Survived by his wife Mrs. Adelaide Ridges Wood and her children: Mrs. Nellie W. Stoneman and Lorena Wood, Salt Lake; Mrs. Naomie W. Salter, Wilford, Willard, and Lillian Wood of Woods Cross; his wife Mrs. Jullet Howard Wood, and the following children: George C. Wood Jr.,

Oscar H., John H., and Joseph H. Wood, all of Woods Cross; twenty-three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held in the South Bountiful Ward chapel on Wednesday afternoon, 4 April. --
