![]() ~thank you so much Stacey~ the morning of April 8, 1997... at about 5:30 am I got up out of bed to go to the bathroom...my underwear was wet...I thought that maybe I had peed a little...you know how being 9 months pregnant is...I changed my underwear and went to sleep on the couch...I kept waking up with throbbing lower back pain... I woke up again around 7:30 and my underwear was wet again... I changed them...I knew then, that today was the day...I didn't tell my husband the physical feelings I was having...I only told him that Morgan would arrive today...throughout the day I was having back pain and contractions...they were nothing major... at 1:30 in the afternoon, I was sitting on the couch and I felt this sharp pain and a small gush of liquid cam out...I said... honey...I think this is it...everything happened so fast after that...time just flew by...at 3:45 pm the contractions were 5-7 minutes apart...we called the midwife and she told us to come to the hospital...we gathered our stuff and Olivia...dropped Olivia off at Vo and Grampie's house at 4:15 pm...then headed to the hospital...we arrived there at 4:45pm...road construction...bumpy ride...ouch!...by now, the contractions were pretty painful...they were exactly 5 minutes apart...our midwife met us and took us down to the alternative birthing center to be examined...she confirmed that my water had broken and that I was 5 1/2 to 6 centimeters dilated...we were admitted to the ABC unit at 5:00 pm...contractions continued to get closer together...at about 5:40, I told the nurse that I really wanted to push...before that I was having really painful contractions but all of a sudden I was having really intense pains with no reprieve between them...maybe 45 seconds if I was lucky...it was eerie how fast everything was happening...already 10 cm...after about 5 or 6 good pushes, at 5:51 pm, Morgan entered the world...I don't remember if she cried...my husband got to cut the cord after Morgan was laid on my chest...she never cried when she was cuddled up to me...she was all wrinkly and purple like a little old man...it was such a wonderful and emotional experience... everything about it was so positive...
