As a young man, Allen Tomblin worked the coal mines of West Virginia...one day while laboring in a dark mine he said he felt the Lord calling him into the ministry.
He followed that calling and gave his first sermon in Logan Co., West Virginia shortly before his first wife died at the young age of 33 in 1935.
He was left with 7 young children to raise.
Gladys O'Lena (Spalding) Tomblin became like a mother to his children and together they raised the family.
Rev. Allen Tomblin was the pastor of churches in Verdunville and Chapmanville, WV in the 1930's.
His service for the Lord continued on in various locations for over 50 years.
