Fresh Fruit Smoothie (Aug 1)
1 cup fresh OR frozen strawberries*
*If you plan ahead, you can dice the fresh fruit and freeze it - you won't need as much ice.
1 peach
1 small banana
4 tsp frozen orange juice concentrate
2 cups COLD lowfat or skim evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
6 ice cubes or crushed ice
Combine everything in blender except ice. With blender running, add ice cubes one at a time and blend until smooth.
Cherry Lemonade (Aug 8)
1 cup hot water
In a large pitcher, combine hot water and sugar; stir until sugar is dissolved. Add cold water, lemon juice, and cherries with their juice; mix well. Serve over ice.
3/4 cup sugar
4 cups cold water
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
6 oz jar maraschino cherries, undrained

Mint Limeade (Aug 15)
1/4 cup sugar
In a blender, combine the sugar, lime juice and mint and process until blended. With blender running, gradually add ice cubes and process until smooth. Add ginger ale and blend well. Pour over ice and serve immediately.
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
4 fresh mint leaves
1/2 cup ice cubes
1 cup chilled ginger ale
Cinnamon Apple Iced Tea (Aug 22)
2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
To make this tea you will need to use an 'Iced tea pot' or adapt the recipe.
1/2 Tbs cinnamon
1-1/2 Tbs sugar
6 regular tea bags
Place half of the apple slices in the steeping basket. Mix together the cinnamon and the sugar, and sprinkle it over the apple slices. Add the teabags to the basket on top of the apples. Fill the pitcher with ice and place the remaining apple slices on top of the ice. Fill the machine with water and brew the tea.
Stir well and serve.
Cranberry Ginger Tea (Aug 22)
2 cups boiling water
1/2 cup fresh ginger, thinly sliced
1/2 cup fresh cranberries
a dash of nutmeg
1/2 cup cranberry juice
Pour boiling water over ginger and cranberries. Cover and let stand 20 minutes. Strain, add nutmeg and cranberry juice and stir. Chill well and serve over ice.
Iced Cafe Au Lait (Aug 29)
1 cup strong coffee
1 cup cold milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
Combine vanilla and milk with coffee. Pour the mixture over ice, and top with whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon.
Mock Pink Champagne (Aug 29)
3 cans (6 oz ea) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
3 cans (6 oz ea) frozen grapefruit juice concentrate, thawed
2 cans (18 oz ea) pineapple juice, chilled
1 cup grenadine syrup
3 bottles (28 oz ea) ginger ale, chilled
Fresh strawberries (optional)
Pour orange and grapefruit juice concentrates, pineapple juice, and grenadine syrup in a punch bowl or other large container. Just before serving, add ginger ale and stir to mix thoroughly. If desired, float a few fresh strawberries on top of punch.
Yields about 4 quarts punch
