During the making of this biography David Gill and Kevin Brownlow became of the opinion that to do justice to Buster Keaton's life they would need to make three 50 minute programmes. Unfortunatly the ITV network had scheduled for only two 50 minute programmes from Thames.
It was Thames' former Director of Programmes Jeremy Isaacs (by then Head of Channel Four) who came up with the solution by providing space in Channel Four scedule.
Thus, much to the bewilderment of the viewers, the three part documentary changed channels in midstream - parts one and two were broadcast on ITV on consecutive Wednesdays, with the final part being shown in the same time-slot the following week, but on Channel Four!
