synopsis
(adventure) Based on the classic by Robert Louis Stevenson, TREASURE ISLAND is a boy's adventure tale, following the young Jim Hawkins who sets sail to investigate a treasure map. Along the way, he comes up against the dreaded Long John Silver, crustily played with gusto by Charlton Heston. Rich cast includes Oliver Reed, Christopher Lee, and Peter Postlewaite.

Available on video and highly recommended. Filmed in Jamaica, TREASURE ISLAND is another Balehead favourite. Some critics have called this version to be one of the best TREASURE ISLAND's ever made and it's hard to disagree. Christian plays a very sturdy Jim Hawkins. The scenery and setting are stunning as they used a replica of the ship, Bounty, to stand-in as the Hispaniola. Directed by Charlton Heston's son, Fraser Heston, TREASURE ISLAND also features a zesty Celtic soundtrack by The Chieftains.
