Dear Stone,
Shortly after you came into Robin's life and mine, I began grinding my teeth
at night. Rather than walk around with an aching jaw and loose molars, I
trained myself to wake up when I started to grind, and subsequently spent
a lot of tim lying in the dark and thinking about what kind of guy I'd choose
for Robin if I had any choice in the matter, which I clearly didn't.
He would think of her before himself. He would commit himself to loving her,
cherishing her, understanding her. He would respect her intellectual gifts.
He would have something unique and valuable coming from his own experience to
offer herin exchange for what she brought to him. He would be unconventional,
but understand the social contract. He would have a wide diversity of friends.
He would be loyal to them. He would have humor. He would have courage.
And then I realized the guy I would choose for Robin sounded more and more
like you.
I forgot one thing. He would think I am incredibly smart and indescribably
cool. Okay. We can work on that one.
