Page 1, Panel 4 - For the first time since #4, we see Jack Knight, who seemingly has his own shadow-related problems in Starman. These 'problems' mainly involve the Shade and the Culp, two other characters with shadow-type powers.
Page 3, Panel 2 - Black Canary: "Starting to see visions of......Ollie?" This relates to Oliver Queen, the original Green Arrow, who was a long-time lover of Black Canary. Queen was seemingly killed in Green Arrow #100, although rumours indicate he'll be brought back in the near future by writer, Kevin Smith, for a new Green Arrow series.
Page 5, Panel 3 - Hourman to Courtney: "You've paid me back for the debt you will soon owe me." What is this supposed 'debt'? Presumably, we'll find out in a future issue......
Page 7, Panel 3 - Obsidian uses shadows (in the form of vines) as a weapon, here. Perhaps this use of shadow-vines has been inherited from his mother, who was known to control plant-life.
Pages 14-15 - Over these two pages, Sentinel recounts the oath he used when he was Green Lantern.
Page 19, Panel 4 - Jay mentions Jim Corrigan. As the Spectre, Jim Corrigan was a founding member of the JSA, and perhaps the most powerful figure in the DC Universe before 'retiring' (see the Ostrander/Mandrake Spectre series). Since then, the mantle of the Spectre has been given to Hal Jordan, former Green Lantern.
Page 19, Panel 6 - Wildcat is talking to Selina Kyle, also known as semi-villain, Catwoman.
Page 21 - The new Injustice Society! From left to right, top to bottom:
- Killer Wasp (somehow connected to Yellow Wasp from Sensation Comics #66, or the reprint in Wanted #6),
- Count Vertigo (former member of DC's Suicide Squad, and one-time enemy of the Spectre and Green Arrow),
- Geomancer (last seen in JSA #5),
- Icicle (son of the original, last seen in Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #0),
- Johnny Sorrow (the leader, who debuted in Secret Origins of Super-Villains 80-pg Giant #1, Dec.1999),
- Blackbriar Thorn (enemy of Sentinel, in 1996's Underworld Unleashed: Abyss, but first fought Superman and the Demon in DC Comics Presents #66, Feb.1984),
- Tigress (daughter of the original Tigress, and Sportsmaster - both members of the original Injustice Society).
[[ Many thanks to JC and Graeme for some info on the above villains! ]]
