The Warbird Empire

The Talarians

The Talarians are in the alpha quadrant and have fought at least one war with the Federation, known as the Galen Border Conflict. The Talarians are a warrior race.

Military

Officers in the Talarian military are trained to respect the rank of captain and will listen to his wishes. Attacking a superior officer is the worst offense an officer can commit. The punishment for such is death.

The Talarians are known to fight to the death and to be ruthless to their enemies.

Females can never outrank a man.

During the Galen Border Conflict, the Talarians abandoned observation craft, rigged them to self-destruct with a subspace proximity detenator, and then send out a general distress call. The detenator is undetectable by scans, and the ship would self-destruct when someone beamed aboard.

Tradition allows a Talarian to claim the son of a slain enemy if his son was killed by the enemy.

Weapons used by the Talarians include neutral particle waves, high energy x-ray lasers, and merculite rockets.

Culture

Talarians are rigidly patriarchal. Pain is not a consideration to them. When Talarians are in distress, they make the Banar (the mourning), which is a type of howling.

At the age of fourteen, Talarians reach the Age of Decision, when they become a man. They will go through the Ceremony of Iniation. Afterwards they have the freedom to make their own decisions.
