Callista and Luke

A Word About

When I read "Children of the Jedi", I could almost relate to Callista. And about the time when I realized what was goin' on between her and Luke... well, I found my book mirror-image. (And she's this computer person, too.)

But then again, what she did and her attitude is not exactly anything that someone would enjoy to be. Not Luke material. Trading bodies and then dumping him later on is also a bad issue. Suddenly the cool girl Luke loved is a bitc...

I really wanna know people's reactions to Callista, good or bad. So, please email me (kaywookiee@hotmail.com) and just tell me whatcha think! This is gonna be a Callista discussion page, mainly.

I don't like Callista, at all! I think it's kind of selfish to take someone's body to be with someone you love, and then to leave that person, just because you don't have the Force.

I liked her in the books but became really irritated with her when she dumped Luke. I felt so sorry for him, especially in the end when he goes back to Coruscant, sees Leia's and Han's kids and thinks he'll never get married or have a family. I hated Callista for making him feel so miserable!

After that I began to think Mara Jade was a serious possibility. I know she wanted to kill him, but there was (and still is) a real chemistry between those two. It's because they weren't both lovey dovey, they have strong personalities of their own, that I think they're right for each other. After all, Mara is a bit like Leia and Luke was interested in her for awhile. -Azina-

Her name is cool, but that's as far as cool goes with her. I didn't like her from the start. She was just to goody twoshoes and it was always me me me me. She was always telling Luke that he had to be the 'Jedi Master' and not have any fun. As for her dumping him, all I have to say about that is "HE'S BETTER OFF WITHOUT HER!" Anyone that would dump HIM for such stupid reasons doesn't deserve to be in his presence. I also think that Mara Jade and he would make a great pair. I can just picture loving little arguments and constant teasing. She would be very good for Luke. He needs to have a little more fun in life. (hint hint: in other words, the writers are getting on my nerves with the way they treat my precious Lukie.) -Jenica-

I don't really like Callista, I didn't like the body switching thing, and I didn't like how she left Luke. I always thought Mara would be a good choice for Luke, I know that she tried to kill him, but there is such a thing as forgiveness. Also the age difference didn't go well with me either. Well, I don't care how Luke's love life goes, I'd like to see him get a happy ending without ending up alone all his life. -Mara-

Callista is a really stupid person. I know she didn't know that she was going to lose her Force powers, but still, she and Luke had a good thing going, up until that point. A thing about couples is that they go through bad times as well as good ones, and usually work things out. This was just a bad time, and even if she never gets her powers back, she shouldn't have been so selfish about them. They could have worked it out. Even Luke wanted to work it out. He told her that he didn't care, but, of course, Callista doesn't care. I don't think she was even listening to him. So first, she makes him think she's dead(After I think about this, I hope you've Darksaber and Planet of Twilight), she tells him she's not dead, but has to go on her own odysessy. Then she resurfaces for a bit, they see each other and in a final farewell, they wave to each other! Why couldn't they at least get the nerve up to say goodbye face to face. No, they just stand there looking like idiots waving at each other. I wanted to kill both of them!! When someone offers you unconditional love, you take it! I don't think Mara Jade and him would go well together, please don't ask me why. I think they should create yet another character, who finally, in the end, does get Luke.

I don't like her. I liked her at first in the book because I hoped that Luke and her coud be together. But go from Luke because her Force powers were gone it just to silly. I mean had Callista loved Luke coud nothing in the wold make her go.

I agree with everyone. I liked Callista in Children, but after that, forget it! She was waaaaaay too posessive of Luke. He and Mara would be way better because they already act like an old married couple, they fight constantly, they both deny they like each other...and Mara's the opposite of Luke. I think that Callista places too much value and importance on how Luke is a Jedi Master, and that he needs to be with someone who is special..blah blah blah...she's sort of a snob. Mara couldn't care less if Luke was a Jedi Master or a nerfherder! Go to the Star Wars Fan Fiction Page: http://www.fanfix.com. Check out Successor to the Dark Side, by Kelly Frieders, under the New Republic section. Kelly's theory is that Callista is actually a combination of Cray and Callista: Call's memories, with Cray's personality.

i do not like Callista at all!!! i hated her the second i first read about her! come on , she is a GHOST in a COMPUTER!!! whats the deal with that? it also pissed me off that she ends up leaving him in Planet of Twilight. oh and in the Children of the Jedi there is this line that i do not understand. "...in the aftermath of loving..." blah blah blah. what is that supposed to mean?? help me out here.

if i made up the perfect girl for Luke she would of course have to be Force sensative and pretty and smart. I really don't think Luke would ever marry a blonde (which sucks for me since i am one) but it is possible. Do you think a girl that looked like Gwenyth Paltrow would be good? if this gal looks like Gwenyth and was buff and smart and tough etc. i think that would be a pretty good match.

I would like to see someone write a novel where Callista falls to the dark side. Luke and Mara would team up to oppose her, and would be forced to kill her by the end of the novel then they would live happily ever after.

I´d like to defend Callista as there obviously isn´t anybody else who will do so...
I just think you all misunderstood her intentions and way of dealing with the situation... of course she was upset about the loss of her powers, but I think she is anything but selfish, because I believe the main reason for her to leave Luke was that she didn´t want him to suffer... I mean she realized that their relationship wouldn´t be the same without her Jedi powers, and that Luke wouldn´t be satisfied with this state for too long... he probably would hide his feelings about that from her, but I understand she wouldn´t want to bear that he stays with a woman who can´t return his love in the same way as he does... she is in a very strong dilemma, and I suppose it is a great sacrifice of her to leave the man she loves... I think it's the best way to show someone that you really care... by not making him lead an unsatisfactory (love)life.

When I read Children of the Jedi, really, really, really, wished I could be Callista. Then I read Darksaber and I was sooooo mad at her. I was depressed for days, really! Finally, I sorta got over it, but I made up a new story that helped me out. I sad that the person in Children of the Jedi was actually named Calista, and that when she was in the escape pod on her way down to the planet, she got caught in a tractor beam from Callista's (her evil clone) ship. Callista took her place, thinking that eventually she could convince Luke to help her take over the galaxy, since he was a powerful Jedi that was in love with her (sort of, I know this is confusing) and she left him at the end of Darksaber when she realized it wouldn't work. Later, Calista and Luke are reunited, Callista is somehow destroyed, and Calista and Luke get married and live happily ever after or something like that. I know it's a dumb story, but that's okay. Anyway, all my friends call me Calista now, and I like that. I guess that's all I really wanted to say. Gotta stop now, I'm watching SW: ANH, and Luke's on there right now. Bye!

I hate Callista!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never liked her she doesn't think about anyone but her poor pitiful self. I don't understand why she had to leave Luke. So what if she couldn't use the Force, Luke said he didn't care. Besides Han and Leia are happily married and what's this : Han isn't using the Force!!! I wonder how they have a happy life. Leia on occasion uses her Force powers while Han does zip. But anyways, I'm glad she left Luke (but I don't like the mental scars) I think Mara Jade is a perfect match for Luke. In Darksaber Mara said she was begining to look forward in seeing him although killing him sounds good sometimes. Come on Mara and Luke are just like Han and Leia in the SW Trilogy. And if not Mara, can someone bring Luke's friend Camie out of Tatooine???????? In a future novel I'd like to see Callista dead!!!

Callista is not a bad person, It's what kevin J. anderson has done to her that really sort of disappointed us all in having Callista just leave Luke. Then again there wasn't really any way to keep her around seeing as there were books following that did not mention her at all. In my view Barbra Hambly did an excelent job in creating the character, especially in 'planet of twilight'. She really is a very knowledgable person and if the books permitted it I don't thing it would be terrible for Luke and Callista to be together, under the condition of forgetting that she even ran away.
