Woody Harrelson: Larry Flynt is a very likeable, charming guy. Very witty and actually wise. That's the irony. A lot of people I've met who would think I wouldn't like, for example, oil tycoons or people who work for DuPont - you find out they're human beings, and the same is true of Larry Flynt. You can try to demonise him, but if you hung out with him for ten to 15 minutes, you couldn't help but like him.
Right after the courtroom scene he was in, he said to me, 'You know Edward stole this scene from you. That never happened to me.'
Woody Harrelson: Early on, it was pretty obvious with Courtney that it felt a lot better when we were improvising stuff. Milos Forman: During the rehearsals, before we started shooting, I discovered that I was so lucky that both of these people - Woody and Courtney - have this rare talent to improvise, not as Woody and Courtney, but as Larry and Althea. I would have been stupid not to encourage that, because that way you can get these unrepeatable moments of truth. Woody Harrelson: Courtney was pretty unpredictable, you never knew what was going to happen. At one point, I'm in the Jacuzzi and she's trying to convince me not to be Born Again. At the end of it she jumps in the Jacuzzi. Well, that's it, to reset on that would take hours, and things like that wouldn't normally happen. So it was nice. Milos Forman: When I met her for the first time, I didn't know anything about her. I didn't know anything about her rock'n'roll background, Widow Cobain, or anything of that. But after a few moments, I knew that I am in presence of fascinating personality. After we started, Woody was very generous, spending a lot of time reading with her, and I knew that she could do it, better even than I could have imagined. I believe today that her rock'n'roll antics (an-tiques) were also an act, she's such a good actress. |
