Growing Pains
Chapter 11
"Time? Time for what Xena?" Gabrielle over the shock of seeing her friend questioned.
"Time to fight Dahok and his daughter." A new voice said from near the door.
"Well come on in Ares." Hercules grumbled from his seat by the fireplace. "I was
wondering when you would show up."
"Yes Ares, do come in." Xena purred at him.
"ah...ah...ah Xena no cattiness in front of our daughter. We wouldn't want her to think
mommy and daddy didn't get along. Besides you know as well as I there can be...."
"I know Ares! No hate between any of us."
"Hmph!" Cyrena snorted.
Xena turned to look at her daughter, a look that had sent many warriors running yet had
no effect on the girl. It was easy to see the rage bristling inside the girl, the air around her
seemed to tremble with power.
"Well, well, well, seems like you've taken after me in some respects girl. But can you
control it?" Ares taunted.
He doubted the girl could do much damage, she was after all only a half god. Had he bet
on it he would have lost. The energy around Cyrena shimmered and came together in her
hands forming a ball of energy, which she threw hitting him in the chest. The force of the
blow sent him through the wall, across the lawn, hitting the barn wall. He slid down to
the ground. "Can't control it? How's that for control, Daddy? Would you like to see
exactly how well I can control it?" Cyrena purred, sounding like her mother.
"CYRENA!!" Xena was amazed at the transformation of her daughter. Gone was the
unsure eighteen year old, in her place stood a poised and angry young woman.
"Oh and by the way Daddy, I'm not a half god I'm a quarter human. Well perhaps even
less than that. Would you like me to explain? Or can't you figure it out?"
"Explain."
"Well, Mother, first off He" she pointed at the God of War who was walking back to the
house, "is definitely my father. But he is also my grandfather . . . yes Momma he is your
father, I stopped by and talked to the Fates after leaving his temple. And other interesting
matings between the Olympians and the women of our family." Her anger run out,
Cyrena looked into the shocked faces surrounding her, tears began to stream down her
cheeks as she saw the fear in Terris and Gabrielle's eyes. Fear of her. "I... I ... I'm sorry, I
didn't mean to scare anyone." She turned and ran from the house, past Ares and into the
dark night.
Xena made to follow her daughter when a hand touched her arm.
"If you don't mind, Aunt Xena, I'll go after her. I need to talk with her anyway, and I
think I know where she will go."
All present were stunned when the warrior pulled the young Amazon into her arms.
