Friend in Need

There once was a girl
Who lived a perfect life
She had great friends
And not too much strife

Things were going great for her
She had everything figured out
But then things started going crazy
And her life she began to doubt

Her friends had changed for the worse
Her grades were starting to slip
Her parents were getting divorced
She felt there was nothing left to grip

She didn't look far to find help
Even though she knew she should
She secluded herself from everyone
Just because she could

Then one day while contemplating life
Her phone began to ring
And she let the machine get it
Angry at it for interrupted

While she was staring at the pills in her hand
She heard a familiar voice
Her once best friend had called
And purely by her choice

"Just wanted to see what you're up to
I haven't seen you around
How are things going
Are you living underground"

"Well I've got to be going
Call me back when you can
We should get together
And figure out some new plans"

With that the girl hung up
While her friend sat astonished
Someone still cared about her
They didn't think she had vanished

So she put away her pills
And replaced them with her coat
She finally felt like going out again
