I just started getting the newsletter, so my comments may seem a bit
dated. Anyway, I just wanted to ramble on about the season finale and
the
show in general. I must admit that it seemed destined that Dawson and
Joey would get together, though I didn't think it would come this soon.
Seeing Joey and Dawson together really sent chills up my spine, but
there
was some regret as well. Where does the show go from here? What do you
do
when the show's central conflict seems resolved? As it now stands, the
build-up and eventual culmination of the Dawson-Joey relationship made a
nice movie...but the climax is over. What do Dawson and Joey do from
here?
I sure hope they're not going to turn this into the perils of Dawson and
Joey for the rest of the show's life. The tension is gone...the
suspense
is gone...the star-crossed lovers are together. (Someone I know compared
these friends in the pre- Ross/Rachel era. There was tension then too.
Once it was over, there was no tension left. I'm no big Friends fanatic,
but it seems valid.) The only way I see this thing working in the
long-term is some new cast members. The core four cannot survive by
themselves. There are only so many possible combinations. (Think of the
90210 cast...there are a million of them and they swap all around and
add
new people all the time)
I've often wondered if Kevin Williamson has a grand scheme for Dawson's
Creek. Does he foresee the show being a three-year project? Or will he
just keep the thing going along as long as possible? These questions
need
to be addressed now, while the show is cresting. I see a major letdown
when the show returns next season and the Dawson-Joey relationship is
cemented. (I'm still going to watch...I'm even going to tape 90210 to
watch at 9:00...I never thought I'd say that....) One obvious
development
has got to be Pacey and Jen, but I don't want to see that happens. Then
everything just fits into nice little pockets. Perhaps they will develop
some of those peripheral characters (Cliff and Abby {I think that's her
name...the girl from the Breakfast Club and pregnancy episodes}) These
folks might mix things up a little. Maybe the snobby girl from the
pageant
and Pacey will get together. There seemed to be some attraction there.
Well, I've rambled on entirely too much. I just wanted to throw in my
two
cents on the whole Dawson/Joey scenario. Everything's not as happy as
you
might think...

On Thinking it and Meaning it but Not Saying it
One of the issues that has really caught my attention in the
first
season of Dawson's Creek is the fact that everyone is afraid of letting
everyone else know how they feel. Dawson loves Jen (or thinks he does),
Joey loves Dawson, Dawson loves Joey, Joey still loves Dawson. However,
nobody SAYS so. I believe that there is a fundamental difference
between
saying something and meaning it and just meaning it. If we don't say
how
we feel, how are people to know?
First of all, I, of all people, know how hard it is to express
my
feelings to people I care about, and I fully understand why anyone else
would have the same problem. If you take the show, for example, you see
that both times a character tells another exactly what he feels, he is
rejected outright. The first is Pacey and his ill-fated kiss with Joey,
and the second is Cliff's rejection by Jen in the "The Scare."
Unfortunately for us, both of these instances provide examples of how we
can go wrong when we tell people how we feel. And also, in one of the
instances in which I personally believe "Dawson's Creek" is not
realistic
at all, characters who do get together do so with no words, and only a
kiss.
In the season finale, it could have been so much easier for
everyone (though, admittedly not as dramatic for the audience) if Dawson
could have told Joey how he felt at the dock, after Joey asked him for
one
"off the top of his head, non-analytical" reason why she shouldn't go to
France. I can't think of a better reason than "Because I love you,
Joey."
And neither could Dawson, which is why he stood silently in front of
her.
And even in the final scene, with Joey pleading with him to use small
words rather than big ones, to think with his heart rather than his
head,
he still can't find the courage to tell her that he loves her. (Though
Joey is just as guilty for not using them herself) In my experience, a
kiss is not enough. Hearing the words "I love you" is just as
important
as the kiss, and when the words come from the heart, they can be twice
as
potent. We will give Dawson and Joey a few more than 13 episodes to
work
out their feelings. But, for all the Dawson's and Joey's out there who
feel like they did for nearly half a season, I implore you make the
first
move, and lay it out on the line. The best time is now and there are
only
good things that can come out of it. In the best case, you find out the
other person feels the same way, and in the worst, you can move on with
your life and not waste anymore-sleepless nights of yearning. Maybe
after
writing this, I can even take my own advice.

Hello Creek Lovers,
I would like to write about the season finale of D.C. I think
that the show had its ups and downs. I love the last part of the show
and I watched it over and over and over again. I think that Dawson and
Joey took too long to come together. Pacey has been going through some
trouble times but all they ever show of Pacey is when he is talking to
his
brother Deputy Doug. I think that in the next season they should show
more about Pacey. Well some of you out there agree with me about Jen. I
think that Jen should not be trying to get back with Dawson only because
she sees that he does not lust for her anymore. I hope that she will go
with Cliff or something. Anyway I am so happy that they finally saw the
light and got together. No the show can run smoothly with no
interruptions. Thank you any questions or comment please right

Dear Kevin and all Dawson Creeker's,
I am writing for a few reasons and hope you can
help me out. For one, rumour has it that they are coming out with a
Dawson Creek Soundtrack. I was wondering if this was true or just a
misunderstanding? I think it is a great idea, and if are making a one
they should include "On My Own", the song Joey sang for the Miss Wind
Jammer Contest. So please keep me updated!
I saw the season finally last week and I
absolutely loved it. I think that it was great that Dawson and Joey
got together. I also believe that Best Friends can have a lasting
relationship. So good luck to whom ever wrote in Anonymously in the
last newsletter about being in Joey's place.
I haven't seen all of the Dawson Creek episodes,
because I began watching after the show had started it's first few
shows. I was wondering why they aren't showing re-runs of the show?
I noticed Buffy the Vampire Slayer is taking its place on Tuesdays at
9pm during our summer days. What is up with that?
I often hear Joey saying that see knows she isn't
pretty. We all know that it's a lie. I think she is really pretty,
and a lot prettier than Jen.
That is about it for now. If anyone wants to
chat or talk about Dawson's Creek or shares my ideas, e-mail me at
