Codi was depressed. David was at baseball camp and she missed
him. She was lying on her bed, listening to sad music when her phone
rang.
CODI: Hello?
DAVID: God, Madison, I missed the sound of your voice.
CODI: Oh my God! David, I miss you!
DAVID: I miss you too baby. How are things at home?
CODI: Miserable. I'm so bored without you. I want you here.
DAVID: It's only another week.
CODI: Yeah, but there's a party tonight and I don't want to go alone.
DAVID: Where's the party?
CODI: Your house.
DAVID: My house?
CODI: Yeah, Isabelle called an hour ago. Your mother had to go to
Savannah for some emergency.
DAVID: That never happens when I'm there.
CODI: You know why don't you?
DAVID: Mom still doesn't trust us.
CODI: You've got it. It also doesn't help that she knows I'm on the
pill.
DAVID: How do you know she knows?
CODI: Oh jeez, let me see … Isabelle overheard Callie and Sydney
talking about it and she told your mom. Then your mom confronted me
about it.
David got a little nervous.
DAVID: What … what did you tell her?
CODI: That I was trying to regulate my period.
DAVID: So ya think she bought it?
CODI: What's there to buy? It's not like it's being used for anything
else.
DAVID: Whose decision was that?
There was a knock on the door.
CODI: Hold on David. … Come in.
Callie came through the door.
CALLIE: Sanna's on the downstairs' phone for you.
CODI: I'm on the phone to David.
Callie handed her the cordless.
CALLIE: Talk to them both.
Codi put her phone back to her ear.
CODI: You still there?
DAVID: Yeah.
CODI: Just a sec okay. Your sister's on the other phone.
She put the other phone to her ear.
CODI: Hey Sanna, what's up?
SANNA: Are you coming tonight?
CODI: I don't know yet.
SANNA: You cannot sit there and pine away for my brother.
CODI: I'm not pining.
SANNA: Whatever. Look just come tonight. You can sleep over and stay
in his room.
CODI: Fine. I'll come. Just don't count on me being at all festive.
SANNA: Be here by eight. Bye.
Codi clicked off the phone and sighed heavily.
CODI: David?
DAVID: I'm still here.
CODI: Guess where I'm sleeping tonight.

Sydney, Mila and Glory were hanging out by the pool in Callie's
backyard. AJ and Emily were busy splashing each other in the small
inflatable pool in front of them. Callie came out carrying drinks.
MILA: … And then the day after Grant and I get back from our honeymoon,
the first thing out of her mouth was when are Grant and I planning on
starting a family.
GLORY: That's my mom. Ever since Emily was born, she's wanted more.
SYDNEY: Hey, don't blame me.
CALLIE: Jimmy's mom's the same way. She has four other sons, but since
Jimmy's the only one married, it's like, 'so when are you having another
baby?'.
MILA: Well, at least Momma's not like that. To her, the word
'grandchildren' means old at least for her.
SYDNEY: Well, I promise that as soon as more of us have children,
she'll want one too.
Codi walked out of the backdoor and toward Callie.
CODI: Hey.
CALLIE: Oh my God. She actually came out of her room.
CODI: Very funny. Listen, I'm spending the night over at the Ellis'.
Mila and Glory looked at Callie waiting for her reaction.
CALLIE: Okay.
Sydney smiled and explained to them.
SYDNEY: David's at baseball camp until next weekend.
Codi was glad Sydney didn't mention that Dr. Ellis was out of
town. Perhaps she didn't know.
CODI: Yeah, well, anyway. I'll see you tomorrow.
Codi went back inside the house.
MILA: Is it just me, or is she love sick?
SYDNEY: I think it's sweet. Don't you remember how it was when you
were sixteen?
GLORY: Heart pounding.
MILA: Palms sweating.
CALLIE: Getting lightheaded every time you see him.
Sydney smiled.
SYDNEY: I still get hot when I see him.
Emily splashed Sydney from the little pool.
SYDNEY: Babygirl, why did you do that?
EMILY: You hot. I cool you off.
They all laughed.

Codi arrived at the Ellis home exactly at eight o'clock. She
was greeted by Isabelle who led her into the house.
ISABELLE: Hey, I'm glad you came.
CODI: Thanks.
ISABELLE: You really miss him, huh?
CODI: Yeah, yeah I do.
They walked into the living room.
SANNA: Hey.
CODI: Hey.
Sanna shook her head.
SANNA: Why don't you go put your stuff up in David's room. I have to
walk down to store to get a couple of things.
Isabelle looked at her sister.
ISABELLE: I'll come too. Would you mind staying here and answering the
phone?
CODI: Not at all. I'm just gonna go on up to David's room.
SANNA: Okay. Have fun.
Isabelle elbowed her twin.
ISABELLE: We'll be back soon.
CODI: Okay.
Codi walked up the stairs. Isabelle grabbed Sanna's hand.
ISABELLE: Have fun?
SANNA: It just kind of slipped out.
ISABELLE: He owes us so big for this.
They walked out of the front door.

Codi's heart began to ache when she reached for the doorknob.
She sighed.
CODI: I miss you so much David.
She opened the door and walked through. She turned toward the
door and closed it. That's when she felt a familiar touch on her
shoulder.
DAVID: I missed you more Madison.
Codi whipped around and threw her body into his arms.
CODI: Oh my God!
When their lips met, tears began to fall from her eyes. David
pulled back and wiped her cheeks.
DAVID: So I surprised you?
A smile came over her face.
CODI: What are you doing here?
DAVID: It's my room.
CODI: David!
David brushed her hair away from her face.
DAVID: I needed to see you. … I needed you.
David tightened his arms around her waist.
DAVID: I couldn't spend another night away from you.
She stroked his face lovingly.
CODI: Where did you call me from?
DAVID: Camp. I got here about an hour ago.
Codi kept touching him to make sure he was really there.
CODI: You're really, really, really here. … Wait a minute. When did
you plan this?
DAVID: When Mom called and asked if I could come home early and stay
with the girls while she was out of town.
Codi let her smile widen.
CODI: So, where exactly did the twins go?
DAVID: They're staying with Katie. Looks like we have the house all to
ourselves … all night.
CODI: Hmm. I wonder what we could do to pass the time?
David kissed her with all of the passion that had built up over
the three weeks he had been gone. When he pulled away from the kiss,
he looked her dead in the eye and became very serious.
DAVID: I want to make love to you.
CODI: Oh David.
DAVID: But only if you're really, truly ready.
CODI: I love you David. I want you so much. I am so ready.
David picked her up and carried her over to his bed. They
immediately began to clumsily remove each other's clothes.
CODI: I guess that answers that question.
DAVID: What question?
CODI: Boxers or briefs.
DAVID: I thought you'd like these better than the Scooby Doo Underoos.
I love what you're wearing.
Codi suddenly became very aware of her near nakedness and tried
to cover herself.
DAVID: Don't.
He took her hands and kissed them.
DAVID: You are so beautiful. You know reds my favorite color.
He began to kiss her neck. Codi had a million emotions coursing
through her.
CODI: David?
DAVID: Yeah?
He pushed the strap of her bra off of her shoulder and continued
kissing her.
CODI: I know I'm on the pill, but … do you … have…
DAVID: A whole box.
Codi smiled as her heart began to race.
CODI: So what are we waiting for?
Codi laid back and pulled David on top of her.
DAVID: I love you.
CODI: I know.

Sanna and Isabelle sat in Katie's room. The three girls had
been occupying themselves with facials, makeovers and junk food.
ISABELLE: So, do you think they're doing it?
SANNA: Oh that's a big uh huh.
KATIE: You really think they're having … sex?
SANNA: I don't think, I guarantee it.
KATIE: Don't you think they're moving kind of fast? They've only been
together for ten months. Plus, they're only sixteen.
ISABELLE: It's their decision.
KATIE: I just think it's the wrong one.

David lay in bed sound asleep with a grin on his face. Codi
was lying with her head on his chest. She very carefully got up. She
didn't want to wake her … lover. That's what they were now. There was
no going back. She grabbed David's t-shirt and put it on. Then, Codi
quietly made her way to the bathroom.
Once in there she stared at herself in the mirror. She looked
different somehow. Codi pulled off the t-shirt and looked at her body.
Callie hadn't lied. It was painful and awkward, but completely
wonderful. She didn't have a single regret.
She put the t-shirt back on and went back into David's room.
She crawled into his bed and he woke.
DAVID: Where'd you go?
Codi kissed him.
CODI: Just to the bathroom. Why, d'ya miss me?
He put his arms around her and pulled her close to him.
DAVID: I hate being away from you for too long.
David began to kiss her again. Then he removed his t-shirt
from her body and worshiped her with his mouth.

The next morning David woke to find Codi staring at him.
DAVID: Good morning.
Codi smiled.
CODI: It's a very good morning.
DAVID: I'm starved.
CODI: Me too.
They kissed.
DAVID: Want to go to the soda shop?
CODI: Nope. Don't wanna leave.
They kissed again. He pushed her hair off of her shoulder to
reveal her neck.
DAVID: Um Codi, how do you feel about wearing turtlenecks in the
summer?
Codi looked at David oddly.
CODI: Huh?
DAVID: You have about four hickeys on your neck.
CODI: What?!
Codi jumped up off of the bed, still wearing the t-shirt, and
ran to the bathroom. She looked at her neck.
CODI: Oh my God.
David walked into the bathroom.
DAVID: I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking about not leaving any marks.
CODI: It's okay.
Codi grinned then hopped up on the bathroom counter. She held
out her arms to David.
CODI: Come here.
David stepped closer to her. Codi wrapped her arms around him
and began to kiss and suck on his neck.
DAVID: What are you doing?
CODI: Turn about is fair play.
David laughed, but let Codi continue the assault on his neck.

Codi got home about four-thirty that afternoon. She had decided
that she wouldn't say anything if Callie didn't mention it. However,
with the amount bruising on her neck, the topic was definitely gonna
come up. She walked into the kitchen to find Callie about to start
dinner.
CALLIE: Hey. How was the sle… What happened to your neck?
CODI: You promise not to go parental on me?
Callie nodded. Codi took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
CODI: I didn't actually spend the night with Isabelle and Sanna last
night.
Callie looked at her curiously.
CODI: Dr. Ellis was called out of town for some emergency. She called
David and asked him to cut camp short and stay with the twins. I swear
I had no idea that he was home. Anyway, to make a long story short…
Before Codi could get the words out, Callie hugged her.
CALLIE: Were you safe?
CODI: Yeah.
CALLIE: Are you okay?
Codi smiled and nodded.
CODI: Oh yeah.
Callie grabbed Codi's hand.
CALLIE: Come on. I'll show you how to cover up those … love bites.
The two sisters headed upstairs.
