Glory sat in her bedroom of the apartment she was sharing with
Sandy. Actually the word 'sharing' was not the right term. Ever since
Robert Clark had heard Sandy and Owen at Grant and Mila's wedding, Sandy
was rarely there. She was busy working with Owen on their debut CD. So
basically she had the place to herself, which she really didn't mind.
It gave her the privacy that she so desperately cherished.

Since it was her senior year, her schedule was as light as
possible. Meaning, no classes on Fridays. So here it was Friday
morning and she had big plans of doing nothing. Then the phone rang.

GLORY: Hello?

NEIL: Hey Glory, is JT there by any chance?

	Glory became concerned.

GLORY: No … should he be?

NEIL: I guess not. He took off out of here at the crack of dawn and I
just assumed he was headed to your place.

GLORY: He's probably at the lab. He said that he was working on
something important that could very possibly change his life.

Neil was quiet for a few seconds.

GLORY: Are you still there?

NEIL: Yeah. I think I know what's up. I'll see ya. Bye.

GLORY: Bye.

	Glory hung the phone up.

GLORY: That was strange.

JT nervously rang the Booth's front door. His heart was
pounding and palms were sweating. Fran, the Booth's maid, answered the
door.

FRAN: Good morning Mr. Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Booth are waiting for you
in the breakfast room.

JT slowly walked toward the room. He kept thinking, 'the worst
they can say is no.' He entered the room and smiled nervously.

CORNELIA: Good morning JT. Would you care to join us?

JT: No, thank you. I'm not really hungry.

GRANT: Are you sick?

JT: No sir. Why do you ask?

GRANT: Because son, I've never known you to refuse food.

Grant and Cornelia laughed. JT's heart was about to leap from
his chest.

CORDELIA: Why don't you sit down dear? You're making me nervous.

JT sat in the chair across from Glory's parents.

GRANT: So what is so important that you needed to see us so early this
morning?

JT took a deep breath and decided to go for it.

JT: I want your permission to marry your daughter.

Cornelia put her hand to her face and smiled. Grant showed no
emotion.

GRANT: What do you feel you can offer to my daughter?

JT was completely prepared for whatever Grant Booth would
through at him.

JT: Happiness and financial stability.

Grant was trying very hard not to smile. He knew that the
nervous young man that sat before him was perfect for his daughter. He
always had been. But as a father it was Grant's job to make the boy
sweat.

GRANT: And you feel that's enough for my only daughter?

JT: Sir, I love Glory. I will do everything to make sure she has
everything she could possibly ever want.

GRANT: You sound like you really mean it.

JT: I do sir.

GRANT: Well, … I just don't know.

	JT's heart sank.

JT: What?

	Cornelia backhanded Grant's shoulder.

CORNELIA: Grant Booth, do not torture this poor boy. Of course you can
marry Glory.

	Grant finally smiled.

GRANT: Of course you can JT. I don't know of anyone who deserves my
daughter more.

JT let the breath out that he didn't realize he was holding.
Then he stood and shook Grant's hand.

JT: Thank you sir. Mrs. Booth.

GRANT: It's a pleasure. Besides, it's rare for a young man to ask
permission this day and age. It's a nice change.

	Cornelia stood and hugged JT.

CORNELIA: So, when are you planning on asking her?

Mila and Sydney were sitting in their business class about to
fall asleep. When their professor dismissed them, they began to gather
their stuff.

SYDNEY: He has to be the most longwinded man I've ever heard. And that
includes our father-in-law.

MILA: He does seem to go on and on. … So, what do you and Garrett have
planned for the weekend?

SYDNEY: My parent's are taking Emily to visit my dad's aunt in Boston
for a week so I'm thinking … lots of sex.

	Mila smiled.

MILA: Sounds like fun.

SYDNEY: Uh huh. What's in the plans for you and your hubby?

The girls started out into the hall.

MILA: We'll probably just go over samples for the house.

	Sydney replied sarcastically.

SYDNEY: I know how exciting that can be.

MILA: It is a headache.

Sydney felt arms reach around her waist and pulled backwards.

SYDNEY: What the hell …

	Garrett's lips found her neck.

GARRETT: So Mila, my brother giving you headaches already?

SYDNEY: Garrett Booth, I swear to God…

GARRETT: You love me.

	Sydney laughed.

MILA: To answer your question, no, your brother's not what is giving
me headaches. It's the new house.

GARRETT: That's understandable. It is being built by Booth
Construction.

MILA: Excuse me, but since your father's been running for mayor and
Grant's taken over the business, there hasn't been a single complaint.

GARRETT: I'm kidding Mila. Grant's very good at the business thing.

SYDNEY: Mila's headaches are from the little things like tile and
carpet samples.

GARRETT: You do know that there are people you can hire to do that for
you?

MILA: I know that, but this is going to be mine, well mine and Grant's,
and I want us to do this.

Sydney and Garrett looked at each other and smiled.

SYDNEY & GARRETT: Newlyweds.

MILA: Ha ha ha.

Glory was now sitting on her couch painting her toenails. Her
phone rang.

GLORY: Hello?

JT: How's the sweetest girl in Swans Crossing?

GLORY: JT, you're so sweet. … Oh, before I forget, did Neil ever find
you?

JT: No, he and Ashlee were gone before I got back here. They're going
to her parent's for the weekend.

GLORY: I know Ashlee's looking forward to seeing her mom and dad.

JT: Yeah. … Listen, the reason that I'm calling is that I was wondering
if you'd like to come over tonight for dinner?

GLORY: You're going to cook dinner for me?

JT: I love you too much to subject you to that. I was thinking of
ordering Chinese food.

GLORY: Mmm. That sounds good. What time?

JT: I thought I'd pick you up around six-thirty.

Glory had a huge grin on her face.

GLORY: Oh, I see what your plan is.

	JT became nervous.

JT: You do?

GLORY: You don't want me to have my own car so you can have your wicked
way with me.

	JT sighed in relief.

JT: You got me. It's all part of the seduction plan. But hey, if you
don't want to stay…

GLORY: I never said that. So how should I dress for dinner?

Sydney and Garrett were standing in the foyer of the Rutledge
Mansion. Sydney was hugging her daughter tightly and had tears in her
eyes.

SYDNEY: Mommy is going to miss you so much.

	Emily patted Sydney's face.

EMILY: Mama not cry. Me go Granddad n Grammy.

GARRETT: Don't cha love how this is always harder on us than her.

	He took her from Sydney.

GARRETT: Come here babygirl.

	Emily hugged her daddy.

GARRETT: Now you be a good girl and listen to your grandparents.

Emily kissed him on the cheek.

EMILY: Me good girl.

	Sydney kissed Emily.

SYDNEY: Yes babygirl, you are good.

DOUGLAS: We really need to be leaving.

Sydney pouted out her lip jokingly.

SYDNEY: Fine. Go ahead. Take my child from me.

MARGARET: Okay.

SYDNEY: Mother!

MARGARET: Sydney, she'll be fine.

SYDNEY: I know.

She and Garrett followed her parents out to the waiting limo.
They both gave their daughter hugs and kisses and then put her into the
car.

GARRETT: Take care of my little girl.

MARGARET: We will.

DOUGLAS: Take care of mine.

GARRETT: I always do.

When Grant got home that afternoon, he found Mila sitting on the
couch surrounded by various samples. She was holding her head in her
hands.

GRANT III: Hard day?

Mila looked up at him and then pointed to the coffee table.

MILA: All of these colors are starting to look alike to me.

Grant looked at the samples she had pointed at.

GRANT III: Baby … they're all white.

MILA: No they're not. This one's eggshell, this one's cream, this
one's off white…

GRANT III: Okay, I get it.

He sat down next to her and pulled her onto his lap and kissed
her. She began to loosen his tie and unbutton the top button of his
shirt.

MILA: What do you want to eat for dinner?

	They kissed again.

GRANT III: You taste pretty damn good.

The next kiss was much deeper.

MILA: As good as that sounds, I'm starving for actual food. I've been
so busy with this stuff that I forgot to eat lunch.

	Grant sighed.

GRANT III: Fine. I guess if you want food I'll have to eat with you.
Why don't you go change and we'll go out.

	She kissed him once more.

MILA: I'll be back in a sec.

JT was standing outside of Glory's apartment door. He had been
standing there for five minutes waiting for it to be exactly six-thirty.
He didn't want to look too eager. He looked down at his watch, took a
deep breath and rang the doorbell. When Glory opened the door, there
was just one thing JT could say.

JT: Whoa!

Glory smiled and twirled around. She was wearing a green slip
dress.

GLORY: I'm glad you like it.

JT: So, you ready?

GLORY: Sure. Just let me get my sweater.

When she turned to get her sweater, JT quickly wiped his hands
on the handkerchief that was in his pocket. Then he grabbed her hand
and headed to his car.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Garrett walked in the front door and put his keys down. When he
turned around to say something, Sydney jumped into his arms, wrapping
her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck.

GARRETT: Is there something that I can do for you?

	Sydney licked her lips seductively.

SYDNEY: The question is not what you can do for your wife. The
question is what can your wife do to you.

	Garrett smiled.

GARRETT: That sounds very promising. … What exactly can you do to me?

SYDNEY: I can make your toes curl.

Garrett set her back on her feet.

GARRETT: Oh really? And how do expect to do that?

Sydney rubbed her body against his. Garrett moaned deeply.

GARRETT: That's a start. What else ya got?

Sydney pulled him into a passionate kiss. And then she pulled
away.

SYDNEY: You know what? I'm feeling a little warm.

She pulled the dress she was wearing over her head to reveal a
black lace thong and no bra. Garrett was speechless.

SYDNEY: Come on Booth. I'll show you how to curl those toes.

JT was trying not to fidget during dinner. He had ordered all
of her favorites and had played her favorite CD. It was getting close
to the fortune cookies and he wanted everything to go perfectly. That's
when he realized that Glory was speaking to him.

GLORY: JT?

	His voice cracked.

JT: Huh?

Glory held the fortune cookies up to him.

GLORY: I said, do you want to go first?

JT took one of the cookies and read it out loud.

JT: You'll get the answer you're looking for.

GLORY: That's a weird one.

JT: What does yours say?

Glory opened her cookie and carefully pulled the white piece of
paper from it.

GLORY: It says, "Will you marry me?"

Glory looked up from the fortune to find JT on his knee in front
of her holding a huge diamond ring. She put her left hand on her chest
and her right one over her mouth. Tears welled up in her eyes as she
began to nod her head yes.

GLORY: Yes, I'll marry you.

JT wiped the sweat from his brow, took a deep breath and let it
out slowly. Then he placed the ring on her finger. She pulled him
forward by his tie and kissed him.

GLORY: So did you get the answer you wanted?

JT kissed her again and nodded.

JT: Yes … Actually, both of the fortunes were the same.

GLORY: I kind of figured that one out.

Glory stood up and pulled JT off of his knee. She stood on her
tiptoes and put her arms around his neck.

GLORY: So now that we're officially engaged, why don't we go practice
for the honeymoon?

JT: Have I ever told you that I like the way you think?

He picked her up and headed for his bedroom.

GLORY: I love you JT.

JT: I love you too.
