Parts 6 & 7
Callie waits patiently for Mila outside of the doctor's office. When
Sydney spots her from across the room and makes her way towards her
friend.
"Hey Callie-O, fancy seeing you here" Sydney greets her friend with a
smile.
Callie looks up, "Syd, I thought you might be sleeping in today cause I
figured you had a late night out last night."
Sydney takes a seat in an empty chair next to Callie, "Wrong, I went home
early actually."
"I noticed," Callie says with a smile, "So that's where you and Garrett
disappeared too, Jimmy was begging to follow in your footsteps."
"And did you?"
"Something came up, what are you doing here?"
Sydney shrugs, "I had to pick up some BC pills."
Callie nods, "jumping back right where you started, huh?"
"Not yet, but better to be safe than sorry. What are you doing here,"
Sydney questions.
"Umm, I'm here with Mila, she had like an annual appointment or
something," Callie says slowly trying to cover up the real reason.
"She couldn't come by herself?"
"She spent the night at my place last night, she was having a mini-crisis
and we were going to for lunch afterwards so I didn't really mind
accompanying her."
"Mini-crisis, Huh? Dish the dirt."
"It's nothing, anyways I might have my own little problem coming up."
"What's up?"
"I talked to Grant last night, he's not going to England after all. He
wants to start up where we left off."
"Ohhh, sucky timing. So what are you going to do?"
"I have no idea, but let's just say at the moment I'm leaning toward
Grant."
"and what about Jimmy? He still is in crazy love with you."
"Yeah, but he's in love with Callie I was in high school. You know more
than anyone how much I have changed. He might not be all that crazy about
the person I am now."
Sydney nods, "I think Jimmy would love you no matter what. You have to do
what's right though, and if Grant's who you want your gonna have to cut
Jimmy loose."
"I know, but I don't want to hurt him like that. I still care so deeply
about him."
"Umm, Callie, Hi Sydney." The two girls look up and see Mila before them.
Callie stands up, "So, what's the verdict?"
Mila nods, "It's like I thought."
Sydney stands up, "Okay, what's the big secret? Care to let me in."
"Well, It's going to be kinda obvious in a few months, so well I'm
pregnant," says Mila quickly.
Sydney's mouth drops open slowly, "What?"
"Maybe we should go somewhere else to talk," Callie suggests.
Mila nods, "How about Swans, just like old times."
Mila and Callie quickly head for the exit while Sydney follows them
slowly still taking in what she has just learned.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
JT stares at the ceiling while he keeps flashing back on last night at
the country club party.
"She can't be pregnant, she just can't..," JT mutters to himself.
"She can't be what," a voice says from behind him.
JT turns around and comes face to face with Jimmy, "Hey, man. I didn't
know you were coming over."
Jimmy had been the one friend from the old gang that JT hadn't alienated.
Jimmy didn't always agree about how JT was handling his life but was
still always their to lend support.
"Well, I thought you might want to see a friendly face, you look beat.
Rough night?"
JT flops on his bed, "More than you know."
"Ahh, I have an idea," Jimmy sits down at JT's desk, "I heard about your
altercations with the law last night. When are you going to learn that
drinking, driving, and Nancy don't mix to well."
"Believe me, I'm learning. In fact I'll be paying for it for the rest of
the summer. I am car and bike less and my dad is making me see a shrink
and go to AA meetings."
Jimmy raises his eyebrows, "AA, what happened to you over the year? How
could you let your drinking get so out of control?"
"It's not," JT protests.
"Yeah right. Listen, I'm not going to go telling you how to live your
life. That's for you to do but you gotta take care of yourself. I don't
want to find you in a corpse one day. Don't drink yourself into an early
grave. There is so much stuff out there you still gotta experience."
"Well, don't worry about me. I'm gonna be under lock and key this summer.
I won't have that much time to get in trouble."
"Good, you don't need to get into anymore trouble."
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Mila, Sydney, and Callie are all sitting at a booth at Swans. Mila has
just finished telling Sydney about her pregnancy, including JT's
involvement in it.
Sydney gives Mila a hug, "I'll always be there for you, you know that
right?"
Mila smiles, "You and Callie have just been so super supportive. I love
you guys."
"Well, we are sisters, remember our vow...Sisters Forever," Sydney says.
Callie nods, "Forever."
Glory enters Swans and bounces towards them, "Hi, Hi, guys!"
Callie smiles at her, "Sit down, your in a good mood. Has something
happened."
Glory giggles, "You could say that."
Glory begins to open her mouth but than notices Nancy making her way
towards the table, "Never mind it can wait."
Nancy smiles smugly at her four old friends, "Well, well isn't this a
nice tasters choice moment."
"Aren't you supposed to be locked up in a cell or something," Glory say's
icily.
"Whatever, Glory. Since you came back from Chicago, since you came back
from Chicago you think your such hot stuff well your in for a rude
awakening."
"Why don't you just go away. You obviously must not have that much of a
life if you have so much time to insult us," Callie say's bitterly.
"Well than, I see I'm not wanted here. Bye, bye girls," Nancy stalks off.
"Good riddance," Mila grumbles, "So, Glory tell us all about what has
gotten you so happy."

Part 7:
Glory, Callie, Sydney, and Mila are all sitting at Swans....
"So, come on Glory....what's got you so happy," Sydney asks?
Glory smiles broadly, "Well, last night I went for a walk, and I ran into
Saja, so we went out to the boardwalk by the pier together and just
talked for hours. I didn't get home till like 4 am."
"And," Callie prods her.
"And, when he walked me home, we kissed. It was just so perfect. We are
going to go out tonight."
Mila smiles slightly, "I'm happy for ya Glor, I think you and Saja would
be good together."
Sydney stands up, "I hate to do this, but I have to go. I have to go meet
Garrett, were gonna go drive up the coast."
"Oh, just ditch us for some guy, Syd. So much for 'sisters forever',"
Callie say's with mock anger.
Sydney laughs, "Well at least I know you all love me. Cal, let's go out
tonight. Just the two of us so we can talk about what we are going to do
about you little triangle." She looks at her watch, "Oops, I'm already
late, Bye Glory, Bye Mila."
Bye Sydney the two girls say at once.
Mila stands up after Sydney leaves, "I should actually go too."
Callie stands up after her, "What? I thought you were going to be coming
home with me."
"I should go home, I can't run away forever. My mom is coming back
tonight, and I should prepare on how I am going to tell her the news,"
she gives Callie a hug, "Thank you so much for everything. I'll call you
tomorrow," she picks up her purse, "Bye, Glory," and leaves the Soda
shop.
Glory looks at Callie strangely, "What was that all about and what
triangle. You can talk to me too, you know."
"I know, The thing with Mila is something she needs to tell you herself,
and the triangle.... it's just this has something to do with someone back
in San Diego," Callie explains.
Glory nods, "Are you talking about my brother?"
Callie's mouth drops open, "How do you know?"
"Cal, my brother tells me just about everything. Including how much he
loves and cares about you.
"He didn't tell Garrett, did he?"
"I doubt it. He and Grant aren't really that tight. Besides even if he
did tell Garrett you could trust him not to say anything to Jimmy."
"Good, cause this is something Jimmy can only hear from me and not
through the Swans Crossing grapevine."
"Wait a second. Your going to tell Jimmy? Does this mean you are going to
choose my brother?"
"I think so. I love Jimmy, I always will but I don't see a future. Both
of us suck at long distance relationships, and your brother, he makes me
feel so special. It's a different kind of love than Jimmy and I had. It's
a more mature love."
"Grant will be ecstatic, but Jimmy is going to be so hurt. By the way
things looked last night, it looked like you two were going to get back
together."
"I know, it just felt so right that I wanted everything to be like we
were in high school again. You know, the country club, the whole gang
back together, Syd and Garrett as a couple, it only seemed natural that
me and Jimmy should act like we were a couple too."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Garrett waits anxiously by his 1997 Honda accord for Sydney when she
finally runs up.
Sydney greets him with a quick kiss on the cheek, "Gar, I'm so sorry. I
got caught up with Mila, Callie, and Glory at Swans."
Garrett smiles, "Give me a few more kisses, and I'll forgive you."
"Now that's a punishment I'd be more than happy to oblige too," Sydney
pushes Garrett back so that he is leaning on his car and she starts to
kiss him slowly.
Garrett separates from her breathlessly, "Umm, maybe we should just stay
in the house today."
Sydney giggles, "Not on your life Booth. You promised me a drive up to
the coast and that's what were going to do."
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Sandy stands in the empty studio that she and Owen used to share. Sandy
spent the past year attending Emerson College in Boston and working on
her singing career. It was finally going somewhere. She was expected to
have her first release out with the year. She was so excited about the
news but often wished she had someone to share it with. She hadn't really
kept in touch with any of the gang for the past year. Although she knew
they still considered her a friend, she just didn't feel like she could
really talk to them. Sandy never really felt comfortable with any of them
all that much except for Saja and Owen. They were all so different than
herself. They were all rich, never had to lift a finger when it came to
housework, and never had to worry about taking care of their brothers and
sisters. They all had the prefect life, unlike Sandy. Sandy often
wondered how she became a part of the "IN" group at SC High. Sometimes
she thought that Sydney, Garrett, and the rest of them just felt sorry
for her and that's why they hung out with her. Well, Sandy's life was
going to become perfect this year. With the release of her first record
she was going to become rich. And she will have made her money on her
own, not through her trust fund like the rest of the gang. Making a
record, paying her own bills for her tiny Boston apartment, she had
finally grown up.
