December 31, 1998

It's been a long time since I've written. So much has happened
in the last few months and I have been so busy. Let's see where to
start

A.J. turned one in October. Callie was so completely over
loaded with mid terms that Mrs. Clayton planned the party for her. He
got tons of toys and clothes and other little boy things. I can't
believe he's already a year old.

Emily is two. She lets everyone she sees in on the fact that
she's two. The other day she was being very frazzled. Nothing I did
for her was right. When I asked her why she was being that way, she
said, "I'm just being two." Which is a phrase that Mother uses a lot.
Emily got her usual haul of presents, and her party was completely
overblown as every Swans Crossing party is. I have no idea why I was
so surprised when Grant and my father arrived with a horse. Yes, at two
years old, my daughter has a horse. I mean I didn't get my own horse
until I was five. Children are so spoiled these days.

Christmas was full of surprises. Garrett and I decided to only
give each other one gift. He and I have been together so long that we
each gave each other the same gift, sort of. My gift to him was a
portrait of Em and I. His gift to me was a portrait of he and Em.
Needless to say, they are both over the fireplace.

Grant number three asked Mila to marry him. After a lot of
screaming, she said yes. The Countess is in planning mode. I can't
wait to see how this one turns out. There is just so much pink a person
can stand.

Speaking of the Countess, so far so good. She's been in
remission since she returned from Texas.

Let's see what else can I think of

Oh yeah, Mother and Daddy are so happy. It's almost as if
they're still in their twenties and he never left. Mother announced
Christmas Eve that she's not running for re-election. She's been
talking about it for years, but she finally made it official. My
father-in-law hasn't said anything yet, but I know he's itching to run
again.

	Now onto the couples

Jimmy and Callie: What can I say? At first I thought that her sister
living with them was going to put a cramp in their relationship, but if
anything, I think they're closer (if that's possible). I think it's the
fact that Jimmy acts fatherly around Codi, and in a way (sick as it
sounds), it turns Callie on. Yes, my best friend is a perv.

JT and Glory: They had a pregnancy scare last month. Thank God she was
just late. We can't have Grant being the good Booth kid.

Grant and Mila: Like I already said, they're engaged.

Neil and Ashlee: They finally did it! Of course, the only reason I
know about it is because Ashlee told Glory and Glory told me.

Saja and Sandy: Her career is starting to take off and he's like her
groupie. They've been talking about marriage, but nothing's come of it
yet.

Owen and Nancy: They eloped. Yes, they're married. I know it's hard
to believe, but it is true. And no, she's not drinking again. They
seem really happy. They showed up at the Christmas party and made the
announcement. After the initial shock wore off, we all wished them well.

Garrett and Sydney: We're more in love now then ever. I know I write
that every time, but it's true. I thank God every day for Garrett
Booth.

Sydney put her pen down, closed her journal and put it in her
nightstand.

GARRETT: Good timing, it's almost midnight.

SYDNEY: You have to admit that this has to be one of my better ideas.

Garrett pulled her body on top of his and looked deep into his
wife's eyes.

GARRETT: Spending New Year's Eve in bed with you? Yeah, it's one of
your better ideas.

She leaned down and kissed him hard. His hands started roaming
her body as the count down began. By the time the clock struck 12:01,
they were both seeing fireworks.
