VH1Beth: Jon and bandmate Richie Sambora recently performed
at "The Beat Goes On", a benefit for LIFEbeat, the Music Industry
Fights AIDS Organization. The concert airs on VH1 this Saturday at 4PM
AND 10PM (Eastern). It's sure to rock your world, and you'll find out how
to support LIFEbeat and its struggle against AIDS. LIFEbeat is just one
of the many worthwhile organizations Jon donates his time to, when he's
not recording great rock albums, travelling the world on massive tours,
or now, performing in cool films. He's going to tell us more about LIFEbeat
tonight, and answer your questions. We'll run five quick trivia contests
and give away five copies of Bon Jovi's latest CD "These Days".

JBJ: Thanks, it's good to be here
VH1Beth: We'll get to some audience questions in a second, but first we'd like to hear more about what LIFEbeat is, and how you got involved in this benefit concert. On to the audience questions...
Question: Jon... just curious to know... what actor or
actress would you most want to star in a movie with??
JBJ: Shawn Penn
Question: Jon, this isn't a music question, but I hope
you'll answer anyway. I heard awhile back that you've read "Black
Elk Speaks".
What drew you to that book, and have you read any others in the same vein?
JBJ: The spirituality of the Indians and their struggles
to remain free drew me to it and influenced me.
Question: You've been around the world on tour, but is
there somewhere you'd like to visit as a tourist?
JBJ: Greece and Israel
Question: Have you ever considered putting out a christmas
album?
JBJ: I've been involved with the special olympics and done
both of their albums, but, with the exception of one of our B sides,
that's the only Christmas album.
Question: Can we expect to possibly see ya act in a comedy
in the future?
JBJ: It would depend on the script.
VH1Beth: What type of comedy would you be interested in?
JBJ: Black comedy!
Question: Are you planning on touring for you upcoming
solo album? If so, who would you like to tour with?
JBJ: There won't be a big tour, jsut perhaps a promotional
one.
Question: What song gets the most audience participation
during a concert?
JBJ: Living on a Prayer, Always, Blaze of Glory

Question: What's your favorite Bon Jovi song and why.
JBJ: I don't just have one, but These Days, Wanted, Living
On A Prayer are three of my favorites.
Question: What was the response from the audience at the
benefit concert?
JBJ: It was wonderful.
Question: How's the solo album going, any demo's yet,
could you give us an estimated release date?
JBJ: We're looking to release it in August of next year.
It's going very well. I've recorded 7 of the tracks already and written
about 20.
Question: Are you ever going to release the "These
Days" videos on a separate tape?
JBJ: No, not right now.
JBJ: About the Versace campaign - Bruce Weber shot the band in Buenos Aires - I went to where they were doing photos for the ads the next day. Then I shot the ads. It was fun.
Question: Hi Jon, Could you talk a bit on who are some
of the musicians you are working with on the solo album?
JBJ: Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics, Roy Bittan, Kenny
Aronoff, Hugh McDonald are just some of the people we're playing
with.

JBJ: Bad Medicine, because the audience participated in the
filming of the video.
Question: You write songs about Love and Faith! It's said
that "Good things come to good people". Do you feel that our
purpose
in life is Pre-destined??
JBJ: I think you make your own destiny.
Question: Just how crazy have fans gotten with you?
JBJ: Pretty crazy.
Question: Hi Jon! Are you doing the christmas concert
again this year?
JBJ: Yes we are. We're doing it on the 19th of December.

Question: I'm 52 and love your stuff... do you know of
any active fans older than i am... like members of the fan club?
JBJ: My mother.
Question: When is the next US tour scheduled?
JBJ: Probably 1998.
Question: When does your new movie open in the United
States?
JBJ: Early 1997. The movie is called "Deleting Man".
Question: How did you and Richie get the nicknames Captain
Kid, and the King of Swing? I was never able to find the interview
where you answered that question.
JBJ: It was an old name that someone gave us based on Captain
Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy.
Question: Jon - I know you love the Yankees! How did you
celebrate the win?
JBJ: We watched the games on TV and went out afterwards.
Question: Since you love music, and love making films,
what is your favorite movie?? Old and New.
JBJ: The Godfather is my favorite old movie, Sleepers is
my favorite new movie.
Question: What is the best way to keep informed of Bon
Jovi News?
JBJ: The Fan Club and the Web site.

Question: Jon do you think rock is at its all time low
right now?
JBJ: No, I think that there's a lot of great new talent out
there.
VH1Beth: What music are you listening to these days?
JBJ: Amanda Marshall, The new Cheryl Crow, REM
Question:Does it bother you to get e-mail from so many
fans?
JBJ: No, I try to read it when I get a chance.
Question: Compared to Live Aid, Farm Aid... and other
musical efforts for humanitarian organizations. LifeBeat seemed like a
very small production. Can you tell me why you think that it wasn't a larger
effort by more groups?
JBJ: I don't know, but it was a good cause and one we were
proud to be a part of.
Question: What kind of acting roles are you looking forward
to?
JBJ: I just look for good character driven scripts.
Question: Do you have a regular workout regimen - you
have such phenomenal stamina on stage?
JBJ: I enjoy running.
Question: Are you ever tired enough to want to quit sometimes?
JBJ: No.
Question: Jon, If you could pick on word to describe yourself
what would it be? =)
JBJ: Driven.
Question: Where did the idea for the song Bed of Roses
come from? I used it for my wedding song and it has a special meaning
for me.
JBJ: I wrote it right in this hotel room I'm in now, after
a bottle of vodka.

JBJ: It stood for Slippery When Wet at the time. Lance is
a friend of mine
Question: Jon, how do you feel about people taping your
shows and trading tapes?
JBJ: It's o.k., if the quality is good.
Question: Have you signed up to do anymore movies? Are
you finished with Little City??
JBJ: Yes, Little City is done, the next one's called Homegrown.
VH1Beth: What's Little City about?
JBJ: Little City is about people coming to terms with life
and love.

Question: Who do you attribute most of your musical inspiration
to, as far as musicians go?
JBJ: My favorite band was Southside Johnny

How do you feel about your lyrics affecting people so deeply?
JBJ: Thanks for the chat. It's been tough answering all of
them. The lyrics are the reason I want to be in the music business for.
Records I grew up on moved me.
