Jon Bon Jovi Interview on WNCI (97.9) Columbus, Ohio 24-03-1997

...missing the first 30 seconds...

JBJ: fun to do, you know.

Int: And the band Bon Jovi is still together?
JBJ: Very much, very much. Richie's doing a solo record right now as well with Don Was, who did the Stones, Bonnie Raitt,          a bunch of things. And Tico's art work is keeping him very busy and on the road. So, everybody's doing other things for          a while.
Int: Cool.
JBJ: Uh hum.

Int: Great. I'm supposed to ask you about a video for this?
JBJ: Oh yeah. Instead of doing videos what we're doing is a short film. A 30 minute mini-movie and uh, it will tie in the whole         album. 6 or 7 of the songs will be in that 30 minutes. But, Demi Moore is doing it with me and Kevin Bacon, Whoopi        Goldberg, uh, Chris Walken. So, we got a hell of a cast, ya know a big, BIG production.

Int: Cool, so like MTV'll run this?
JBJ: Yeah, MTV, VH1, and perhaps networks shortly , uh, before or after - (laughing) we haven't quite figured that part of it           out yet. But, yeah, the idea of just doing the same old with a video was boring to me, so, ya know, we decided to take            it to the next level and do a film.

Int: So, then you're saying 30 minute
JBJ: Yeah
Int: Is that what...
JBJ: Yeah, the idea of getting it to television, uh, and not for, you know, motion picture release, but for a short film sort of          entry. You know, and the idea that MTV and VH1, of course, were very excited about the idea of the new medium - a          way to get 6 or 7 songs in a half hour instead...
Int: Like an infomercial (laughing)
JBJ: Yeah, that's me (laughing) Call right in, right here, right now, WNCI
Int: $19.95
JBJ: You can have this record...

Int: And, Little City - what's that?
JBJ: New movie I did. A Mirrormax Film with, um, Penelope Ann Miller and Annabella Sciorra and Jo Beth Williams.

Int: You were in a movie beofre, I believe, too?
JBJ: Yeah, Moonlight and Valentino was the first one I did. And, uh... So, movie stuff is keeping me very busy.

Int: So, it looks like the video thing'll come out before the movie comes out, or is the movie...
JBJ: Yeah, Little City will be out in September. And, then I'm in Billy Bob Thornton's next film - you know, that guy from          Slingblade...
Int: Yeah
JBJ: He's nominated for a couple of Oscars tonight - it's called Homegrown and uh, I'm starting a film in 2 weeks with a guy        named Ed Burns...you know, uh, She's The One, um, Brothers McMullen
Int: Yeah, we had the premiere of that here in town...
JBJ: She's The One was, uh, you know, the Tom Petty soundtrack. So, he and, uh, Lauren Holly - who's Jim Carrey's wife -           and I are doing a film together.

Int: That's cool. You're loving life.
JBJ: Can't complain - working.

Int: You started like in 82, I'm thinking that's when you're first hit was.
JBJ: Yeah, that's right, yeah, Runaway - many moons ago. What was the club here... the Agora. They had an Agora here. Int: (same time) They had an Agora in, uh...
JBJ: (same time) Long, long time ago...
Int: Was it before The Newport? Was that The Agora...here in town?
JBJ: In the early 80's
Int: Yeah, yeah
JBJ: I played that one and the one in Cleveland one in the same night.

(Laughter)

JBJ: Did that lunch thing in Cleveland, then came up here for the night show. I remember that ... (pause) ... I have been all          though this area for a lot of years.
Int: Great. Let me play you're new song.
JBJ: Good idea.

Int: Midnight In Chelsea, and Chelsea is a city
JBJ: In London.
Int: In London. Let's check it out. New Jon Bon Jovi on WNCI.
