Jon Bon Jovi On Z-100 28-03-97

ELVIS: Well good morning Jon
JON: Good Morning
CHRISTINE: Good Morning

ELVIS: Leave it to us on a Easter weekend to be doing crap like this. (Elvis is referring to the format of today’s show              regarding two of their dee-jays. (Elliott lost a bet and is driving around the city naked) (Greg T. The Frat Boy is              dressed up like an easter bunny playing smash the egg on your head with the Z-100 listeners in Washington Square               Park) They are definitely not referring to the interview with Jon.

JON: Yeah. (laughing)
ELVIS: Yeah. (laughing)
CHRISTINE: (laughing)

ELVIS: Well Good Morning, Are you at home in Jersey?
JON: Uh, no, I’m in town, I’m in the City.
CHRISTINE: Oh yeah?
ELVIS: Oh, oh

ELVIS: Now, do you ever get to go home anymore? Are always so busy?
JON: I run around alot, but, uh, no I’m home plenty.

ELVIS: Now, Jon we saw you in the movie-where I think they set you up to be a piece of meat, by the way.
JON: Yeah, a Boy-Toy. (laughing)
ELVIS: (laughing)
CHRISTINE: Yeah, exploited, used.

ELVIS: Are you working on some other movies that where you are not quite as meatisque?
JON: Uh, yeah. (laughing)
ELVIS: (laughing)
JON: Um, I’m about to start something with Eddie Burns, who did "She’s The One"
ELVIS: Oh really
CHRISTINE: Oh that should be good.
JON: Me and Eddie and Lauren Holly are doing a film together.
ELVIS: Oh, you make it sound like "me and Ed and Holl"
JON: ha ha ha
CHRISTINE: His buds

ELVIS: Did you ever envision in a million years that you would get off the stage or out of the studio for a moment from your              recording to do movies.
JON: No, no, no, but, uh no you know I am, so I’m uh, uh, uh, uh, on a roller coaster it’s something to do in between           records.
ELVIS: No complaints - just a hobby
CHRISTINE: Oh wow, just a little film now and then
JON: Watch out Elvis, I’m gonna be a dee-jay next
CHRISTINE: Oh, okay.
ELVIS: yeah, hey you know.
CHRISTINE: We’re out of here
ELVIS: Bring it on Jon, bring it on. (laughing)
JON: (laughing)
CHRISTINE: (laughing)

ELVIS: Lets talk about the cd for just a second -You guys just went into the studio?
JON: Yeah!
ELVIS: What did you come out with?
JON: Uh, a solo album called "Destination Anywhere"
ELVIS: Oh right
JON: And it will be out in May, and Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics did half of it and a guy named Steve Laroni, an           englishmen uh did the other half and uh, pretty modern sounding record you know, it came out pretty good CHRISTINE: Very nice

ELVIS: Did you miss being in the studio while you were making your movies?
JON: No, um it’s really two different places mentally you know, but what I did on the movie set while I was really able to           write because of all the downtime.
ELVIS: It’s a lot of sitting around and waiting
JON: Yeah, you know you sit around and do nothing, so I bring a guitar and just start writing.
ELVIS: You know what’s really weird about movies, they make the biggest stars on the planet wait.
CHRISTINE: Oh yeah
ELVIS: It’s like this power the director has
JON: Ha ha ha
CHRISTINE: (laughing)
ELVIS: (laughing) Very bizarre
CHRISTINE: Go to your trailer young man.

ELVIS: What else have you been up to since the last time we heard?
JON: Well, I’ve done three other movies (what they are called in the can) that are coming out and this album, and the band            went on the road last summer as well.
ELVIS: Oh, absolutely
JON: So, uh, I’ve been very very busy
CHRISTINE: Oh yeah, incredibly.
ELVIS: Now, what are the other guys in the band doing while you are making films?
JON: Richie’s doing a solo album with Don Was, who of course you know did The Stones and Bonnie Raitt’s records. Um          Tico’s art stuff is really taking off and he’s been around the world and back again. I spoke to him yesterday and he’s          been all through Europe and he’s opened his own gallery in Florida.
ELVIS: Really?!
JON: Yeah!
ELVIS: Oh how FA FA FAME!!
CHRISTINE: Darling
JON: Yeah, Tico’s artwork is doing unbelievably well and Dave is doing a record with Dr. John.
ELVIS: Really?
JON: Yeah, he’s written some great songs for Dr. John
CHRISTINE: Very nice
JON: So everyone is keeping pretty busy until we go back to work.

ELVIS: Well, so will you be back on the road when?
JON: I wouldn’t venture to say before ‘99, but we will spend ‘98 in the studio doing a record and this year doing solo          projects.
ELVIS: Well, Jon it’s been good hearing from you again. I know Z-100 went through this wild weird time, we went through               this weird phase.
JON: You did?
ELVIS: Where we didn’t play Bon Jovi music
JON: Hey man, what happened?
CHRISTINE: Ut-oh, Ut-oh!
ELVIS: It just got weird and freaky, we lost our minds, it was like we were on heroine without shooting up.
JON: Oh man, (laughing)
ELVIS: (laughing)
CHRISTINE: (laughing)
ELVIS: We took a trip without leaving the farm
JON: Oh man! Oh
ELVIS: But, now we are back to our roots and we can get away with playing Bon Jovi.
CHRISTINE: Absolutely.
JON: I like that!

ELVIS: Now, the song about Chelsea, of course we are taking about "Midnight In Chelsea"
JON: Imm hmm
ELVIS: What Chelsea is this about?
JON: Well it’s really about London, but we’re filming the video in New York. (laughing)
ELVIS: (laughing)
CHRISTINE: (laughing) okay close

ELVIS: For the sake of this conversation it’s about the Chelsea of New York. (laughing)
JON: It’s uh, I wrote it as a narrative about London because I was doing a film over there last year called "The Leading Man"           that it’s not out yet, (laughing) but, uh, anyhow I was over there living in London for three months. It really takes on a           whole different lifestyle.
CHRISTINE: Yeah

ELVIS: Did you take the whole family to London with you?
JON: Yeah
ELVIS: Isn’t it great over there?
JON: Yeah
ELVIS: It’s just a different planet
JON: Yeah, it really is, it’s great

ELVIS: All right, and the cd, when are we going to see the cd in full throttle?
JON: Not in the stores until the beginning of June
ELVIS: Wow
JON: single in May
CHRISTINE: Okay

ELVIS: Well Jon, I’m glad were back with you and Jon, I’m glad you’re back with us, it’s so good to talk to you. Can I play               "Midnight In Chelsea"?
JON: Please! That would be great
ELVIS: Jon Bon Jovi everyone!
CHRISTINE: Okay! Thank you
ELVIS: Thanks a lot
JON: Take care guys
ELVIS: Have a great day!
JON: Bye
ELVIS: 8:23 a.m. Bon Jovi is back on Z-100!
