Jon Bon Jovi - Hey Hey It’s Saturday - Australia - 25/10/1997

Jon is wearing a black long sleeved shirt and blue jeans, he sings Queen Of New Orleans then come out to do an interview with Daryl Somers (DS) and Molly Meldrum (MM)

DS: Ladies & gentlemen Jon Bon Jovi (crowd continues to scream Jon looks around) How do you.... (Daryl points to the screaming audience) look at this.. Jon how do you cope with all this pressure.... Romping around the world (points to the audience again). I think they like you..... How do you cope with the pressure, romping around the world promoting the album and what have you.

JBJ: (smiling to the audience the whole time, loving every minute of it). I..... It’s a good job if you can get it Daryl.

DS: So you enjoy it?

JBJ: The only job better than mine yours... It’s amazing.

DS: I know that you’ve got something Molly, down there, that you would like it.... (Molly holds up a framed Gold Disc for Destination Anywhere sales in Australia, audience claps. Jon’s still smiling)

MM: This has already gone gold and is heading for platinum, Destination Anywhere, the album. Congratulations.

JBJ: Thank you

MM: I gotta say it’s a pleasure to give it to this guy. And I’m not just saying this in front of you...

DS: Well you are saying it in front of him.

MM: Yeah, I am saying it in front of him. But unlike other guys, unlike the Spice Girls Jon is one of the most patient, one of the gentlemen of the industry, nothing is too much of a hassle for him... Congratulations. (Jon shakes hands with Molly and Daryl, he seems to be a little embarrassed.. how cute)

DS: Let me briefly as you about Destination Anywhere. You wrote all the tracks on the album...

JBJ: Yeah

DS: And I believe anyone that wandered into the studio got a gernzey on the album.

JBJ: It was an experimental album where we just let any one try anything and the attitude was if it didn’t work, hit the red button and it goes away.

DS: So is a guy came in with a pizza delivery he ended up on your album. JBJ: Absolutely, as long as he gave us the pizza for nothing.

DS: Of course, it’s all here, I guess we should read the sleeve... So you’re going to do another number before you go. Where to from here? You’ve been to India and all of that, so this is really a quick tour for you. Where do you go from here?

JBJ: I’m heading home actually, this afternoon. (Audience boo’s)

DS: That’s a shame, cause there are a few people in the audience who want you to come home to their place after the show for a late supper or something but if you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta go....... Someone’s got something for you, we’ll just give you this before we get you to do another song. (Molly walks to the audience and accepts a framed plaque from a lady in the front row. Takes it back and hands it to Jon.)

JBJ: Thank you

DS: Oh, that’s nice, it’s framed, beautifully done.... Would you like... Do you want us to read that out... Can we read it out? (Lady in audience says ‘yes, read it out’). Jon Bon Jovi, for the joy you have bought into our hearts..... ohh, this is gonna...... Hey I don’t want this guy crying on camera... We haven’t got time to read this all out... But it’s beautiful and thank you, Jon, you’ll take this home with you.

JBJ: Yeah, definitely.

DS: For the moment, what track is it you’re going to do next for us?

JBJ: Janie Don’t Take Your Love To Town.

DS: And is it really based on an argument you had with your wife?

JBJ: Yeah, on an argument I had with my wife, but I did the right thing... I ran as fast as I could, took my guitar and sat in the bathroom and wrote a song.

DS: Oh so you do have an ending to the song.... So this song came out of a domestic, a bit of a blue you had with your lovely wife, you went into the bathroom wrote the song.....

JBJ: Came out in the morning, new song, made up... (laughs)

DS: Yeah?

JBJ: Yeah (laughing)

DS: It’s a long song... Goes for about four hours.... No it doesn’t..... Jon Bon Jovi, thank you. (Someone passes Jon some roses and a beach ball, he laughs and accepts them then leaves the interview area). He’s a great guy.

MM: A very nice guy.

DS: Destination Anywhere is the album... Jon Bon Jovi... Janie Don’t Take Your Love To Town.

(Jon performs Janie then Daryl comes back out with the Gold CD and gives it to Jon again.. Jon waves)
