Reviews of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" by The Four Bastards

(read in southern accent) Sleeveport? Honey, I'm from Shreveport.

Hot Chick: n/a

Hot Chick Factor: wowsers!

Synopsis -- A bunch of big fat Greeks get together and have a wedding and dance in a circle, like on that episode from "Full House" when Uncle Jesse accidentally marries his cousin or some shit.

Jason's review:

Ok I feel really gay saying this, and since Ryan is my roommate I have to watch myself because he might get too excited, but this movie is really cute.  I liked it a lot more than I thought that I would.  I went into it not really having any idea what it was about other than that it had fat Greek people in it, but it was so much more.  First of all Joey from NSync was in the movie and I must say that he is not a better actor than Lance from "On the Line."  I couldn't relate much to this movie because I am just plain white, but I have been to Ryan's house for Christmas.  There were so many similarities that I was cracking up just thinking about Siti and Steve.  This is a movie you really have to see in the theatre just to appreciate seeing it with other people who might be able to relate.  Definitely go see it.

Nate's review:

This was a good movie. I'll admit, I too was apprehensive about seeing it to a degree. My family is generally not fat nor Greek. However, labeling this an ethnic comedy or pidgeonholing it to say that only Greeks will "get" the movie is to miss the point a bit. This film is not primarily about being Greek -- it is a coming-of-age story, it is a story about attaining the American dream for two different generations. The whole Greek-American thing makes a nice backdrop to tell the story, but I didn't find it to be the main "thrust" of the film, if you will. According to genre theory, this is the ultimate way to tell a story-- to show a conventional type of narrative in a new light. The French would love this film. Evidently the Americans do too because this shit is making money hand over fist. Both Tula and her father used the opportunities available in this country in order to better themselves and their loved ones and so enrich their lives. Hence this is an uniquely American story! It is good, go see it and don't be a bitch.
