Reviews of "Bruce Almighty" by The Four Bastards

god almighty then

Hot Chick: Jennifer Aniston

Hot Chick Factor: *10* no question, certainly

Synopsis -- If you've seen the preview you know this... Bruce is a TV reporter specializing in feelgood stories and feels the glass ceiling because people can't take him seriously.  After a particularly bad day he gets angry with God for his life and God decides to go on vacation for a week and give Bruce his powers to make everything right.  Hilarity naturally ensues as the powers of the almighty are given to a news reporter from Buffalo with a slight temper and penchant for buggery...

Short declaratory phrase in an attempt to get quoted in TV trailer, ad, or cover box --

"Holy shit, this is one great movie!  Holy shit."

Nate's review:

Jim Carrey is back folks!  This is a good movie, one that you should see in the theater.  Good story, great casting, great God (Morgan Freeman's God With a Sense of Humor is snaptastic), in short, you can't miss.  Carrey holds himself back just enough that his acting is not suspect in a role that requires more than nonsensical noises and gestures in order to be effective, but lets loose enough that we definitely know it's him.  Seriously, only he could have played this the way it was meant to be played.  One local reviewer said something to the effect that Jennifer Aniston "squandered any critical acclaim garnered by her performance in The Good Girl in a nothing role."  To this I say bullshit!  What the hell is she supposed to do, turn down a role opposite Jim Carrey just because she may not have to dig as deep as an actress?  Fuck that shit, I thought she was brilliant.  A tough role to play -- she loves someone but maybe not in love with someone for awhile.  Whatever.  Sometimes local press pisses me off.  Even though I'm not paid for this, I'm right.  See the shit, you won't be sorry.
