Reviews of "Sin City" by The Four Bastards

Hot Chick: Yowza, take your pick, fellas! Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy (my personal fav, I think it's the voice) -- but in this film, it's gotta be Jaime King

Hot Chick Factor: 9.75... oh what the hell, 10

Synopsis -- Crazy crazy shit ensues. It's too much to even try to summarize, but trust me, it is some crazy shit. CRAZY!

Short declaratory phrase in an attempt to get quoted in TV trailer, ad, or cover box --

"'Sin City' beats you like a monkey with four arms! Fun for the whole family."

Nate's review:

This movie was GREAT. However, it is definitely not for everyone. The violence and elements of magical realism will turn off more than a few viewers. I'm sure that it is not a simple as this, but a good guideline would be guys = like it, girls = don't like it. As a film, Robert Rodriguez shows us that he still kicks your ass when he wants to. This is much more than just another non-linear narrative rehash. The look of the finished product is so unique, I was almost spellbound while watching it. It combines the more "useful" (in a utilitarian sense) elements of classic American noir films with just enough of the fantastical so that it is clear it is not a noir remake and/or homage in most senses, but at the same time is not simply a live-action cartoon. I could go on and on about this, but I'll spare you this time. Mickey Rourke was made for his role. He sells it so well it is incredible. When he says his dialogue it doesn't sound unnatural for him in the least. Bruce Willis comes close to Rourke's level also, but I'm telling you, Mickey steals the show. Final word -- noir fans and comic/graphic novel readers will love this, as will anyone that likes unique and inventive cinema. The ending drags a bit, but that's my only criticism. I'm not typically a fan of the all-digital, but this one really blew my mind. Great stuff. Seth Cohen, this movie is for you! But don't bring Summer. You and Zack bring a six pack of Coronas and let Rodriguez kick your asses.

Rating: 9 out of 10 exciting new ways to kill a man (or 2.7 out of 3 conversations with the dead)
