Reviews of "XXX" by The Four Bastards
Hey daddy where's the remote?
Nate's review:
Personally, I can't get enough of spy movies. I also can't get enough man-furs. This movie is a spy movie in which the main character wears a man-fur. You would think that I would be all about this movie! You would be right, but not because of the man-furs or the spy shit. No, it's the Slavik accents that do it for me. "De bisnees ees done, now ve party. Ha ha, bdring me some wodka and de girlsss!" Okay, it's none of these things. Taken for what it is, which is a dumb-ass action movie, it's not bad. Vin Diesel's stunt doubles pull off some pretty book shit, and the opening scene is great. It simultaniously establishes a backstory, character type, and motivation, and also gets the movie off with a bang. Mad props to Mat Hoffman, who does an awesome cameo in this movie. The Condor kicks ass. Samuel L. Jackson, who of course is always good, plays the role of Basil Exposition, er, Vin's "spy boss." You sort of get the feeling that he's too good for this movie, like maybe they should've got Forest Whitaker or something. I make no sense! Anyway, I loved the completely ridiculous situations Sam would put Vin in to "test" him. Quintessential spy movie shit. Oh well, I think it's worth seeing anyway.
