Coming Soon and Updates
I do not know where to start about this site, other than to say that it was started on a whim.
In the Fall of 1996, Greg Titus and I decided to take an internet class. For me, it was a joke
as I had worked for an internet service provider that summer and midway through the class. However,
I figured that I would take the class for an easy "A". Well, part of the requirement of class was that
you had to create a webpage. Well, jokingly Greg and I decided to start a Highlander Web Page. Greg started
on his first as I was busy tutoring most of the people in class. His idea was to have bios over the
more well known Immortals. The idea was good but his HTML skill was not as well known as mine. Therefore I
started on a page of my own. As it grew, Greg sort of abandoned his as it was taking him so long and by this
time I had caught up with him. So I used his pictures and soon took over it. He created a new web page and I
created a simple one as well. But on the side I continued the page. At first my site was simple. A few bios,
no dates, and a couple of pictures. I hadn't decided yet to keep the site or not. I did not have much graphics
experience and most of my page was text. But I kept going. Around November 1996, I decided once and for all
to put a lot of time into the site. So for the next 4 months I studied hard to find out information about
all the Immortals who graced the television series and movie. Brian Hayden had an Immortals list out there and
it was the greatest thing I came across. And although now looking back, it could be called plagerism, I used
his list to get me started. But soon, I started developing new things and started making write ups of my own.
I got help from many people online, many of which sent me pictures. Finally in March 1996, the month of my b-day,
The Watcher Chronicles as they were called then, opened to the public at Geocities.com. Soon, the site brought
a lot of attention. It was because of this attention that I decided to keep my site up despite the hard work that
it required. For the beginning part of the site, Greg stayed in the background but I still credited him for his
work, but soon he backed out as time was not on his hand. The site soon became solely mine, and the demand for
more material grew. And it did just that for a time, but soon my personal life took a weird turn. I soon had no
job and was not going to school. I became depressed and the site didn't grow very much and in a lot of ways has not
since. I also had gotten a threat from Donna Lettow, the author of the Highlander Watcher Chronicles CD. But all that
was worked out and she and I came to an understanding.
From the time that I stopped working on the site to now a lot has happened, I went back to the school I'd flunked
out on 2 years earlier, Henderson State University. But now I'm back home looking for a job again and trying to
get a Network Certification through Microsoft. Along with these changes have come the rebirth of "The Highlander Watcher
Chronicles". I can only hope that you all love the change and that I can continue with the site. I appreciate all the
lovely e-mails and guestbook signatures. Some of them so nice, they actually brought tears to my eyes. As for personal
information about me, I am 22 years of age. I currently am back at home in Texas. I was persuing a Computer Science
degree, but have decided to pursue, as I said, the Network Certification. I have a lovely fiance, Christy Langston. She
is currently pursuing a Psychology degree. She is very lovely and means all the world to me. She is in the pictures (very
badly scanned). She is my guiding light. Well, enough about me. I just hope that you all love the site. As Highlander the
Series has ended, I like everyone else will miss the show and dedicate this site to keep the memory of it alive. Take care
everyone and enjoy. And remember all...DON'T LOOSE YOUR HEAD. Thanks again for all the compliments and I just hope I can
give back. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Matt Notley
