Anaconda 1997Directed by - Luis Llosa Starring - Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde A documentary film crew hires out a boat to cruise up the Amazon River in search of a lost tribe of snake worshippers. Along the way they pick up a stranded dude that goes by the name of Sarone. Sarone tells them he knows the location of the tribe. The leader of the crew doesn't believe him and tells Sarone so but suddenly and mysteriously ends up in a coma from a wasp bite. Sarone says he'll stick around as their guide. What the crew doesn't know is that Sarone is really on the hunt for a fourty foot anaconda snake that he hopes to get a million smackers. He takes them on a wild ride with lots of mishaps befalling the hapless boat. Finally they encounter the big snake and it's mean and it's hungry. It pigs out on several of the crew before three of them beat it the hell outta there. Okay, so everybody says this is a stinker. I really don't know
why though. There's plenty of action and suspense. The computer
generated snakes are very good but of course we know they're not
real. Jon Voight plays the creepy sinister part to the hilt but
I really found him fascinating here. The meaner he got the more I
liked him. This was probably because the other actors didn't really
have the type of personalities that I wanted to root for. Check it
out for yourself.
