The Crawling Eye 1958AKA - The Trollenberg Terror Director - Quentin Lawrence Starring: Mysterious happenings on a mountain at Trollenberg cause Professor Crevett to bring in United Nations scientist Alan in to investigate. Also drawn to the site is psychic Anne who has some sort of telepathic link to whatever's up on the mountain. It seems Alan and the good Professor have seen this all before in the Andes. Their theory is that it's an invasion from outer space. A strange radioactive cloud is hanging over a peak and climbers are disappearing at an alarming rate. Most of the lost climbers are never found and those that are seem to be missing their heads. Still others are zombified to try and kill the psychic gal and end the link she has with the creatures. When a couple of assassination attempts fail the monsters come down from the mountain to do it themselves. The local villagers and all our heros make a mad dash for the observatory half way up the mountain as the danger descends. The observatory has three foot thick concrete walls and can withstand avalanches and even fire bombing from the air. Realizing that the creatures like to live in extremely cold climates Alan figures they may not take too kindly to heat. He makes up a few molotov cocktails and chucks them at the beasts. Alan calls in a bomber to drop some napalm all around them. Geez, ain't it great to have connection like that. Just hop on the phone and call in a bombing raid. I can think of a few places I'd like to do in right now. Anyway, this seems to get the job done. A lot of talk in this one and we don't get to see the monsters
till near the end. They sorta look like brains with an eyeball and tentacles. They're not bad but they expire rather easily.
When the creatures do get done in it's more than obvious that it's
happening on a miniture set. So obvious in fact that I was expecting
a Lionel train to go chugging past. But overall it's not bad.
