A small pocket of humans have holed up in a large fortified underground military compound. They aren't sure, but they may be the only people left on Earth. Their helicopter forays into the surrounding areas to search for others have been unsuccessful. The only beings they find are all flesh eating zombies.

There are two factions within the compound. Half military personel and half civilians and scientists trying to find some way to either cure or subdue the zombies. Due to the death of the military leader a new more brutal man takes command. The two factions clash with each other so often that neither get much done to solve their mutual problems.

Finally things come to a head and the two groups battle each other as the zombies infiltrate the compound.

Third and last of George Romero's Living Dead series. Plenty of heads getting ripped off and guts getting yanked out in this one. Strictly for the gore lovers out there. Not much of a plot and it's dumb but that doesn't stop it from being very entertaining.
