Curse Of The Fly 1965

We start out with a chair crashing through a window and the glass flying toward us in a way that surely means it was meant to be 3D. But as far as I know there was never a 3D version released. Suddenly a barefoot Patricia, lusciously clad only in bra and panties, jumps out the window without cutting her feet on the hundreds of glass shards on the ground. She comes to a huge iron gate and unlocks it, then re-locks and throws the keys into the bushes. As she's passing the gate we see that she's escaping from the Fournier Mental Hospital. They just ain't making them nuthouses like they used to, not a bar or screen on any window to be seen anywhere. And they must leave keys lying all over the place. Not only that, but they make you run around in your underwear.

Anyway, she bolts down a road and gets caught up in the headlights of a car driven by Martin of the infamous Delambre family. The car stops, she jumps in and the two head off to Montreal where they get married a couple of days later. She doesn't tell Martin that she's an escaped nutbar, but he's not exactly honest with her either. You see, it seems that he turns into a bit of a creepy looking mutant if he misses his serum injections. It is the curse of the Delambre's. Too much fartin' around with the molecules.

Martin brings Patricia home to meet his dad but dad's in London with another son. No problem, dad hops into a teleportation machine and bingo, he's home. It looks like they finally got the bugs ironed out of the machine. (Pun Intended)

As it turns out, the machine is not perfected and the family has a horse stable full of mutants to prove it. One of them is even Martin's first wife Judith. Are these guys cool, or what?

There are two other characters staying in the house. Tai, the Chinese lab assistant, and Wan, a white girl who tries like hell to look Chinese but fails miserably. Wan doesn't take kindly to Patricia and tries to drive her nuts by bringing the mutant Judith in the house to let Patricia see her.

A detective and a matronly old lady from the nuthouse track Patricia to the Delambre estate and confront the family. Martin shows them his marriage certificate and tells them to get lost. The cop figures there's some weird stuff going on there and obtains a search warrant.

Before the warrant can be executed the family starts destroying evidence. They send two of the mutants to London through the machine and they come out stuck together a quivering mass of flesh. The brother in London kills them. Then Tai secretly puts Judith through the machine and just leaves her molecules hanging in space. Then Dad decides he wants to split to London making us figure we're gonna see another stuck together flesh thing when the two are downloaded. No such luck. The brother in London has smashed his machine. So it looks as though Dad and Judith's molecules are gonna be floating around in space forever.

Tai and Wan escape in a 1963 Chevy just as the cops show up. An all points is put out on them. Martin hops into another 1963 Chevy and shrivels up to a mushy mess because he forgot to take his serum. Just how many 1963 Chevy's are in this flick? Plenty. I think Chevrolet must have had a piece of the action. Anyway, Patricia is saved but we never find out if she has to go back to the nuthouse or not.

Everybody likes to put this one down. It may not be as good as the first two but it's not too bad at all. Okay, so there's no Fly Monster in it but there's a few mutants kicking around. Not that we get to see much of them and it's obviously just a hasty make-up job done on them. But it has plenty of atmosphere. I like it.
