Return Of The Fly 1959Even though I was still scared stiff from the first one I remember going to see this one as a kid. As a matter of fact I think when the second one came out they put it on a double bill with the original. What more could a kid ask for? After his mothers funeral, Philippe Delambre forces his Uncle François to tell him the truth about his fathers death. Philippe then decides to carry on his fathers experiments at his mansion just outside of Montreal. Unknown to him his lab assistant is a murderer on the lam who wants to steal the plans for the Disintegrator-Integrator when it's perfected. The crook doesn't realize that there is a detective closing in on him. After successfully transporting an ashtray they decide to try a live guinea pig and not reintegrate it till the next morning. Later that night Alan goes into the lab and starts photographing the machines plans. The detective sneaks in and tries to arrest him but get whacked in the head for his troubles. Some cop eh? Alan puts the cop through the machine and he comes out with guinea pig hands and feet. Of course the guinea pig comes out with human hands and feet. Alan squishes the guinea pig and dumps the dectective's car over a cliff with him in it. Philippe figures there is some nasty stuff going on and confronts Alan but ends up in the machine. Just for good measure Alan throws a house fly in before turning it on. Philippe comes out just like daddy, with a fly's head, arm and leg. Alan then takes off to Montreal. Philippe tracks him down and kills him and his partner in crime. Philippe then returns home and Uncle François puts him and the captured Man/Fly through the machine to try and rectify the situation. There's a lot more happening in this one as you can see. But that
doesn't mean it's any better than the first. It's close. But it's
very entertaining anyway. Vincent Price is at his best as usual.
