I
MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE, 1958
Director... Gene
Fowler jr.
Starring... Gloria
Talbot, Tom Tryon, Chuck Wassill, Maxie Rosenbloom, Ken Lynch
Okay, so the title
makes it sound like a totally unwatchable turkey, but wait, it's
a lot better than it sounds... As a matter of fact, the only
thing keeping it from being excellent is the rather humdrum
effects...
Bill is getting
married the next day and, while heading home from his stag party, he
is absorbed by some kind of misty thing-a-ma-jig thing... The next day he shows up late but
the wedding proceeds and the couple leaves for their honeymoon...
We know that all is
not right when we see Bill standing on a patio and a flash of
lightning shows a rather gruesome face hiding under his outer
shell. He doesn't hang around his old drinking
buddies anymore and dogs don't like him... After the first year Marge wonders why she has not
become pregnant and consults Doctor Wayne who tells her that
she's fine and the problem may be her husband...
On one of his late
night excursions Marge follows Bill out to the woods where, to
her horror, she witnesses an alien exit Bill's body and enter a
spaceship... The body remains standing there and she approaches
and touches it causing it to topple to the ground... She then
runs into town and tries to tell the townfolk whats happening,
but nobody believes her... She confronts Bill who tells her that
his race is from Andromeda and an unstable sun killed off all the
females of the species and they plan to interbreed with the women
of Earth after they solve a few problems...
She then takes off
and tells Doctor Wayne who, incredibly, believes every word she
breathes... The good doctor then gathers a posse of men that have
recently had children -- why didn't I think of that -- and they
proceed to the spaceship... However, when they get there they
find out that mere bullets can't kill the aliens, but they have
two dogs with them that supply plenty of gore as they rip out the
alien's throats...
The men then enter
the ship and discover the original bodies of their friends in
suspended animation and plugged into some kind of machine... As
they unplug each victim the corresponding alien duplicate turns
into mush and dies... Then we see dozens of spaceships leaving
Earth letting us know that it was very widespread...
