Monster from the Ocean Floor 1954Director: Wyott Ordung Starring: Lovely and talented Julie is visiting down Mexico way when she hears the story of a sea monster. Figuring it's all bull she goes goes for a swim and bumps into a different monster, namely Steve and his stupid little mini-submarine that is propelled by pedal power. Yeah, like a bicycle. The propellers on this thing turn so slow that I don't know how the thing can even move through the water. But with the magic of speeding up the film it looks like it can do about thirty miles per hour. He hauls Julie over to his boat where we meet his buddy Dr. Baldwin. They turn out to be marine biologists who are studying the waters in this neck of the woods. All of a sudden a boat with some guy yelling at the top of his lungs about his partner who has disappeared while diving. Steve hops into his geeky submarine and goes in search of the diver. All he finds is the guys empty suit. Somehow he's been mysteriously sucked out through his diving helmet. They can't figure out what happened to him, can you? Julie tells Steve about the monster myth and he laughs it off. Anyway, it's the usual love at first sight. Ole Steve wines and dines Julie, he even serenades her on the beach. Don't give up your day job Steve. He then tells her he's gotta split for a few weeks to some other watery studyhall. Julie wants to investigate so she grabs a bottle of tequila and heads over to Pedro's place hoping the booze will loosen his lips about the local legend. As suspected, Pedro spills the beans after a slug or two telling her that it all started around 1946. Now Julie must have seen a monster flick or two in her day because she immediately relates the happenings to the Bikini nuclear tests that went on a few years earlier. Pedro goes on to tell her that he's actually seen the monster on occasion and it has one really big red eye. Pedro is then visited by the village hag who convinces him that Julie should be sacrificed to the sea gods to save them from the monster. Pedro reluctantly agrees and says he'll perform the dastardly deed himself. Meanwhile, Julie goes snooping on the beach later that night and sees the monster in the water. She immediately faints and doesn't come too until the next morning. Despite this, she borrows Pedro's boat and goes diving in search of the monster. Little does she know that Pedro has released the air from her scuba tanks. She discovers she has no air the hard way and just barely makes it back to the surface. However, she doesn't suspect Pedro. Later, she and Pedro go out again so she can dive. As she's putting on her gear Pedro pulls out his itty bitty jack knife and contemplates stabbing her but the old softy just can't bring himself to do it. He then breaks down and confesses the plot to her. Julie totally forgives him. She dives and comes across the creature that looks something like an undernourished octopus. The thing begins chasing her. Now, once again using the magic of speeded up film, we get to see Julie swim backwards at an incredible speed. And dang-it-all if Julie don't faint dead away again. Right about now Steve pulls up in his boat and is told that Julies been down a long time. Once again he jumps into the stupid little sub and dives. He rams the teenie sub into the creatures big eye and kills it using really bad minitures. Steve then drags Julie up to the surface and into his boat. The two eye each other longingly and begin sucking on each other's lips. The End... Okay, so it stinks. But it ain't horrible. Check out the soundtrack
music when Julie's in the water. Go ahead, tell me this wasn't the inspiration
for the music in Jaws.
