Pulse 1988It's sorta like an electrical Amittyville A sinister force enters a house through the power lines. Right off the bat we realize it's intelligent because it starts rewiring the TV and other appliances to wreak havoc on the inhabitants. We learn later that this force has been working the street and is already responsible for forcing "The Crazy Old Bastard" across the street into setting his house on fire and committing suicide. A kid, who is visiting his divorced father, is the first to realize something's awry, but of course nobody believes him until it's almost too late. Even things like splitting gas pipes and the wife getting half scalded in the shower won't shake the father into thinking something spooky is happening. It takes almost an hour for this sucker to get going, but once it does, it's okay. Also, we never really learn what the evil force is or where it comes from. The only possible clue is the first scene of the movie where we see a bolt of lightning strike something. No great special effects here, but it is watchable. Check out the old man who knows what's going on. He's a
real hoot. Actually, he steals the show.
