The Revenge of Frankenstein 1958Director: Terence Fisher Starring:
Peter Cushing Baron Frankenstein is at it again. Having just barely escaped the guillotine he takes up a lucrative medical practice under the name of Doctor Stein in the town of Carlsbruck. Dr. Stein does a lot of volunteer work at the local charity hospital. For some strange reason a lot of his patients seem to be missing a limb or two or other body parts. Coincidence? We think not. In his lab he has a freshly stitched together cadaver waiting "To Be Born." His badly deformed helper wants his brain transplanted into the new body. Stein and his apprentice successfully perform the surgery. When the newly born guy finds out he is to be put on display for the world to see he takes off. He gets into a fight and sustains brain damage. Suddenly his new body begins reverting back to the twisted wreck of his original body. He murders a young girl of questionable morals and is chased by the cops to his doom. Word leaks out that Stein is actually Frankenstein. When he returns to the charity ward his butchered patients pound the living hell outta him till he's at death's door. His apprentice drags him back to the lab and begins to transplant Frankenstein's brain into a new body. As he does so he wonders aloud if he has the skill to perfom the delicate operation. This is a Hammer film which means it's a lot better than the similar
crap that Roger Corman and friends were pumping out at the time. The
acting is good as are the sets and atmosphere. We enjoyed it.
