In the post-apolocalyptic future kids are taken from their parents and placed in orphanages to be trained and brainwashed for military service or some such nonsense.

A group of kids from one of these places sneak out to play some kind of weird lacrosse game on rollerskates. They call their team the Solarbabies.

On one such trip they find a wonderous crystal ball that has magical powers. One of the nastier kids steals the ball and takes off into the desert. The Solarbabies follow him on rollerskates. Also, hot on their tails is some kind of Nazi outfit that wants to destroy the ball. They go through the usual hi-jinks with chases and narrow escapes until the happy ending.

This movie is strictly for kids, so if you're over 12 years old, stay clear. It's not very good anyway.
