YET ANOTHER BLOCKBUSTER FROM SHANKER |
Starring: Prashanth(x2), Aishwarya (x2/2), Nasser(x2),
Lakshmi, Radhika, S.Ve.Shekhar, Senthil, Raju Sundaram.
Lakshmi tells Nasser that Aish is also a twin and that the other Prashanth
(Ramu) can marry her. They all go to Chennai. Actually Aish doesn't have
a sister and Lakshmi asks her to act as Madhu as well as Vaishali(the other
Aish, who is supposed to be brought up in a Brahmin house). Ramu falls in
deep love with Vaish without realizing that it is Madhu who is acting as
Vaish. Meanwhile, both the Nassers exchange places (this is bcos the elder
Nasser wants to sort out things for his younger brother). The elder Nasser
acts as Radhika's husband and tries to correct her. Visu comes to know
that Aish is playing two roles and gets angry with her for cheating his
innocent brother. Aish tries to make him understand that she had no
other choice but in vain. Later Ramu makes Visu understand the true love
of Aish and they convince their father(actually it is the younger Nasser).
On the day of the marriage the elder Nasser arrives and stops the marriage.
What happens next.......VEN THIRAYIL KAANGA.
REVIEW: This film is a sure hit. The technical
brilliance of Shanker will break the box office again. There is nothing new
in the story. It is the same old formula which involves either twins or
aalmaarattam or one person acting as two people. What makes this film
different is the beautiful Product Mix which incorporates all the three
formulae. The richness with which this film is delivered makes this
film stand out from all the other movies. Nasser and Radhika reach
great heights in terms of acting. Especially Radhika, does another fine
performance first as a wicked lady and then sparkles again in the climax.
Aishwarya pettai kalakkal (hmmmm!, Enakillai Enakillai,...Prashanth though
a hero in this film is my No.1 Villain). Aish looks great, acts well and
dances well (Innoru Ms. World pattam Kodukkalam). Aish excels in the role
of Vaishali(a homely brahmin girl). S.Ve.Shekar is makes a re-entry as
Aish's father Vellaiappan. Shekar never tells a lie and Lakshmi forces
him to speak anything but the truth. Shekar is very vey funny. Raju
Sundaram also makes an impressive debut. Rehman's music is very impressive
(both the songs and the back ground). Especially the song "Kannodu
Kanbathellam" (sung by Nithyashree, grand daughter of D.K.Pattammal) is
too good and the way Shanker has picturised it is also Tres Bien.
STRATEGY: Shanker's strategy is something which has
always interested me. His technical brilliance and committment is
something which is extinct amongst the other young directors. The film
may be a 26 crore production, but it will surely earn huge profits for the
producers. For JEANS, the entire animation work was done by PENTAFOUR,
a Chennai based software firm and they hav done a very good job. The
skeleton dance in "Kannodu Kanbathellam" and in the climax is something
which will fetch repeated audience in all segments. Animation starts
right from the title scene. Shanker always has the habit of using his
key song towards the end of the movie ("Chiku Bukku Rayiley", "Muqala
Muqabala" and "Telephone Manipol"), similarly he uses his "Athisiyam"
song at the end. This song had been shot in all the wonders of the
world and is again another crowd puller. The setting in "Anbey Anbey
Kollathey" talks again about Shanker's taste.
