Dan Aykroyd: How much is a pint of milk?

He was on a mission from God in "The Blues Brothers." He snagged spectres in "Ghostbusters." But does fast-talkinī Dan Aykroyd, star of this monthīs "Blues Brothers 2000," pony up for his pasteurised?

Have you ever walked out of a movie?

Yeah, I walked out of that horrible vampire film with George Hamilton ... "Love At First Bite." In fact, Steven Spielberg was with me and we walked out together.

Have you ever had a supernatural experience?

I think I can qualify a couple of experiences as having been definitely supernatural. One night my wife and I were in bed and, all of a sudden, picture frames, her watch, bracelet, jewellery all started to go into a kind of little spinning tornado, on the night table. So that was good. And once I saw green cubes of ectoplastic light when I was at the old farmhouse. Also I think a spirit got into bed with me once. I was alone in the house and I felt the mattress depress behind me. And I looked and sure enough, there was a depression in the mattress and there was a cold feeling in the room. It was the spirit of a man who died of a drug overdose in the living room. The theory is that he was buried in the hillside because it was during the 60s and Mama Cass owned the house and didnīt wanna tell the police. So his spirit - his name is Richard - haunts the place. I think he was gay. So a gay ghost got into bed with me one night.

Whatīs your idea of heaven on earth?

Being on my island in Canada with my family cooking T-bone steaks, drinking fine Margeaux and watching the dog chase racoons.

Whatīs the worst smell in the world?

Gary, Indiana at about 4:30 in the afternoon when theyīre firing some of the stacks. Burning off some of that methane from the fuel production.

Can you name all the characters on Scooby Doo?

I know thereīs a dog. Is that the Archie and Veronica thing?

Er, no.

Thereīs like a beatnik character with a beard and heīs got a sheepdog and they chase ghosts. Well, I donīt know the characters but itīs flickered by my eyeballs a few times.

What phrase do you most overuse?

"Iīm outta here," I guess, is the one I overuse most.

Which biblical character do you most relate to?

Oh, definitely Paul because he converted, you know.

How much is a pint of milk?

Today in America, a pint of milk would be, I would say, about 85 to 95 cents in one of the Korean stores over here.

How do you behave when youīre drunk?

Beautifully.

When youīre angry, do you shout or sulk?

I shout. Definitely shout.

Do you think marijuana should be legalised?

Itīs down to personal preference. I think there are some definite medicinal advantages to it. As far as full legalisation, I think thatīs up for a democratic society to decide. I think itīs up to the local township, the local city or county or state. If the people in a specific area decide it should be, they should vote for it. I, myself, would probably vote for it.

Have you ever said "I love you" and not meant it?

Absolutely. To a traffic officer when Iīve been stopped. They let me off the ticket and I say "Officer, I love you." Of course, I donīt mean that.

Would you eat human flesh if your life depended on it?

If the flesh was dead and the person had agreed that it would be alright after death, sure - in a situation like you get up north, where a bush plane crashes and you donīt have anything to eat. Obviously, youīd go through all the toothpaste and shaving cream on board first. But Iīd definitely have a leg. Iīd cook it first though.

Were you a teenage rebel?

Yes, I was. I was arrested for public drunkenness. We stole a bus once. Yīknow, that kind of stuff.

Who is the best James Bond?

Well, I guess, I would have said it was Sean Connery but I think Pierce is doing a wonderful job so Iīd have to split the vote there.

How long ago was you last wild night out?

Last night. I was out till two in the morning with my wife until she bailed on me and then I was with (Reels of a long list of names including Michael Douglas and Lorraine Bracco) ... it was wild.

What was the first album you ever bought?

Probably, with my own money and everything, Paul Butterfield East West. That was about 68/69. It was a blues album.

How far is too far?

Well, I donīt really know. Nothing is too far in terms of space travel.

Would you let your kids do what youīve done?

If they want to, sure. Why not? I think everybody has to experiment and learn in moderation. Itīs what keeps us alive.

Whatīs the most unusual place you have ever vomited?

Probably on my motorcycle doing 50 miles per hour. It wasnīt pretty. Whatīs the message on your answer machine?

I donīt have one. It just picks up. Thereīs a beep and a hiss and thereīs no message. Thatīs for security and stuff.

On a scale of one to ten, how hairy is your bum?

Oh, definitely eight ... Oh yeah, absolutely ... Lots of really ugly black ringlets.

Have you ever lied since weīve started talking?

Yeah, too many times Iīm afraid.
