Bon Appétit CEREALS & BEANS  -  CHEESES
RECIPE NAME:  CHEESE RICE CASSEROLE

SERVING SIZE: 4 to 6 servings
PREPARATION TIME: 1 hour
 INGREDIENTS:
3 cups rice cooked
3 tablespoons butter  -
1/2 cup  onion chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt -
1/8 teaspoon pepper -
pinch - sage -
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour -
3/4 cup milk -
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese grated
 
DIRECTIONS:
  • Melt butter, add onions, salt, pepper & sage.
  • Fry until golden brown.
  • Add flour. Warm up milk and add slowly.
  • Stir over medium heat, add cheese slowly and stir  until melted.
  • Add cooked rice, blend with fork so as not to mash the rice.
  • Pour into greased casserole.
  • Bake 30 minutes in 375F oven.
  • (a few strips of bacon can be served with that dish)
