DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 425F.

Grease 12 regular muffin cups

In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients except nuts.

Melt butter over low heat.

Add maple syrup and mil to butter and stir.

Beat in egg and vanilla (or maple) flavoring.

Stir butter mixture into dry ingredients.

When liquid and dry ingredients are well blended, stir in walnuts.

Spoon batter evenly into muffin cups, leaving room in each one for topping.
If topping not used, bake immediately.

If topping is to be used combine: 3 tablespoons sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon,
3 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts.

Blend topping ingredients well and sprinkle over each uncooked muffin.

Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

After removing allow to stand at least 5 minutes before removing muffins
from cups.
