Well in 1989 the sixteenth Bond film was set to open in the USA. Timothy Dalton reprised his role as Bond and the film was under way. The story has Felix Leiter getting married when the wedding is interrupted by the DEA who has the possibility to trap a huge drug lord Franz Sanchex. Well Sanchex is caught and is being transported when he escapes. He then seeks revenge on Felix and his new bride. Bond finds Felix and sets out on revenge. His disobeys orders from M. M confronts Bond where upon he quits. and runs off. M declares Bond a rogue agent who must be brought back to London. Bond manages to escape MI6 and head to Isthmus where Sanchex lives. With some newly acquired money Bond becomes friends with Sanchex and then undermines him in the end. Due to a huge writers strike the film suffered from little to no humor, and very uninteresting locations for the film. Peoples general impression was weak and the Box Office proved that. This was a serious blow to the Bond Empire that Broccoli had built. Once the film was over Broccoli was back in court to fight for his rights. In the end there would be more film, but not without a six year wait.
