Ned Ashton, son of Tracy Quartermaine has never wanted for anything, until he met the woman of his dreams, Lois Cerulo.  This two-faced tycoon and sometime singer lost the woman who put the song in his heart, his better half, Lois, when he let loose his worse half, the vicious business executive - with the proverbial vengeance.

In 1993, on a business trip, Ned encountered Lois Cerullo, the manager of a so-so band called The Idle Rich. Ned got up and sang with the group, and Lois was so impressed, she signed the man she knew only as "Eddie Maine" to a record deal - and took him to bed!

A year later, "Eddie" married Lois - and then Ned was forced by his family to marry blackmailer Katherine Bell. For a while, Ned kept up two lives and maintained two households, one as himself, the other as Eddie. Then, Lois saw the Quartermaines on TV; the jig was up.

When Ned finally extricated himself from his unholy alliance with Katherine, he worked overtime to earn Lois's forgiveness. In 1995, he married her for the second time. Although she wanted to make her life with Ned work - and she wanted him to be a part of the life of their daughter - she feared that she was becoming mean-spirited, like all of the Quartermaines, and she left Ned

Ned tried his best to adhere to Lois's request to distance himself from his dysfunctional family. Lois, who was now pregnant with Ned's baby, reached her breaking point when Ned's mother, Tracy Quartermaine, returned to Port Charles to try and orchestrate a hostile takeover of ELQ. Tracy hated Lois from the moment she laid eyes on her! Tracy's hostile takeover attempt failed and she was once again banished from the family. Ned, however, couldn't turn his back on his family while ELQ was still in trouble. Lois then made the hardest decision of her life. Determined not to let her unborn baby be poisoned by the toxic Quartermaines, Lois left Ned and went home to Brooklyn. Although they still loved each other, Ned and Lois couldn't be together.

Most recently Ned has been spending his time with Alexis Davis, of the powerful Cassadine family.
